“I make knives as a hobby, my nephew forged a blade and I finally finished it. I handed it to his mother my sister in law, she dropped it. When she dropped it, the blade cut her right leg about 3.5 to 4 inches long on a diagonal and went to the bone. (See attached pics.) I was behind her as she had turned towards the light to see the knife better. When she dropped it I started moving from behind her to in front of her. I saw the cut, and saw how big it was and immediately grabbed it to apply pressure. When I did that my wife was 10 feet from us at the time painting. I told her to get one of our kits. She grabbed her Bearfak, when she got back to my sister in law and I she pulled the inner out of the outer and then for a lack of a better term yard saled everything out of the kit, I told her I needed the emergency trauma dressing and she was in a slight panic. I told both of them to calm down and pointed to the etd with my toe. She got it out and opened and I applied it to the victims leg. Her husband drove her to the ER where they stapled her shut and gave her a tetanus shot……..
