I opened a custom solid wood working facility approximately 35 or so years ago in Spokane, WA. The first thing I did when I opened my shop is I built cutting boards for every member of my family. Shortly after, I began a journey of building custom furniture pieces for approximately twenty years. After that, I began exclusively accepting commissions for solid wood custom boardrooms, with conference
tables ranging from 3 feet to 54 feet long. It gave me the opportunity to work with several shapes and types of wood. I shipped tables, custom desks, and credenzas to over 42 states and a handful of countries. Now I’m entering retirement but I still want to stay active, so I decided to go back to where I started – building cutting boards. However, most of my family who I built the original cutting boards for still have them and use them daily. That’s when I realized, I could give other families the chance to have an artisan heirloom-quality cutting board that will stand the test of time and be passed down from generation to generation. This sparked the launch of Specialty Wares, an exquisite, heirloom-quality collection of cutting boards I’ve built using premier hardwoods and exotic wood. I might be partial, but these boards are some of the highest quality handcrafted cutting boards you can get.
