Here’s the specs:

Quarter sawn torriefied 5A flame maple neck with ebony laminations. Vintage C neck. locking tuning machines.

Ebony Fingerboard, 12” Radius, w/ glow in the dark inlay, luminlay side dots. Stainless jumbo frets.

Hand milled chambered maple body with flame maple top, walnut lamination. Burgundy stain. Satin nitro finish.

Muy Grande twangbucker pickup and bridge assembly splittable quarter pounder neck pickup. Bloom treble bleed circuit, 3 way selector, and push/push coil split.

Doshpuluur build finalized. This project has been an engaging experience in crafting an unfamiliar and lesser-known instrument. I have gained valuable experience that will be beneficial if I were to undertake a similar project again, and I am very happy with the outcome. Most importantly, the instrument sounds good and plays well. A very enjoyable experience.

Dashpuluur Build

The Dashpuluur is a fairly obscure Mongolian folk instrument which we were recently commissioned to build!

This is the beginnings of our modern take on this traditional instrument which features quartersawn maple, purple heart, and Wenge laminations in the neck, and will feature a flamed maple body and goat skin heads on both the face and rear.

The Doshpuluur has a muted plunky sound which traditionally is played in a fashion meant to mimic a horse galloping. They are often made of scrap woods and other convenient materials. Our take is a modern interpretation meant to last a lifetime or more!
