It’s been a great spring season. Potatoes are doing great. Onions look good and squash and the pumpkins are coming on strong. We have 5 plantings of sweet corn that are all up and doing great. A little rain would go a long ways.
Keep watching our page to see when the stand at the farm will open. We will also be having a truck in spooner when the corn is ready.

It was a sad day on Tuesday at the farm. A load of pigs went to the butcher. I know it’s the lifecycle of animals on the farm but it’s always a little sad. They were all well taken care of and petted as we loaded them. Thank you to those who ordered a half or whole. I still have four that could go to the butcher if anyone is interested. We are also taking orders for our next batch that will be ready late summer.

I was in the pig business for the first time when I was twelve. My brother and I had three sows. Named Tom,Tim,and outta (outta good names for pigs). They each had a litter and we had built a new woven wire fence for them to live in. All the little ones started getting out and eating the potatoes in my mom’s garden. My mom never got upset but she came out there one day and they were all in her garden eating potatoes. She said the pigs are going. Do you know what would happen if they got across the road onto the golf course. She didn’t mention her potatoes once but our pig enterprise was short lived. I’ve got a lot of memories growing up on Boulderlane farms. One of them was in weather like we are having now. Bitter cold and one of our cows had a calf. She was in the shed but probably colder in there than outside. The cow was a terrible mother. She wouldn’t let the calf nurse unless we sedated her with a drug called rompun. So naturally that’s the name you give to the calf. Rompun did great. Half of his ears froze off but it didn’t bother him. My brother took that steer to the very first livestock show and sale at the Washburn County Fair. He was given a bad time because Rompun only had half of his ears. He did well on the sale though. Remember only 23 weeks until the Fourth of July. We will have non GMO potatoes, onions, sweet corn and more for you at that time. As always. Know where your food comes from.

These guys are still looking to be bought by you for your freezer. It’s sad to me because they greet me night and morning, let me scratch their ears, and rub their tummies.
