The Story:
Just before the world was taken over by a fu***ng virus, which shut life as we knew it down to a trickle of livelihood in a sea of unknown and unfortunate pandemonium. Matt Greenia and Nick Nickerson were slowly beginning to work on material that wasn’t necessarily being recorded for any specific body of work.
What was being recorded were Old and New songs together. The older tunes ranged from being 22 years old to the not so distant past. This sparked up the new creative side in me to create a tracklist made up of songs I felt strongly about in this moment and songs from prior mentalities into works of the present.
Outside of four songs the entire album was recorded remotely. With very little face to face interactions, the album was recorded with Nick Nickerson’s personal recording setup, along with some of the other many guest contributors also providing recordings captured in their home studios.
Once the stems were sent to Matt Greenia at Diamond Street Studios, he began feely them out and building upon them to thicken them up using anything from bass, different amps, electric guitar, percussion, background vocals, and anything at his disposal at Diamond Street Studios. From that point we began inviting other fellow musicians to contribute whatever they felt from each of the songs. The results were surprisingly vivacious and took on a new life in a free and transformative way. Though there may indeed be +20 year old songs on this record, they have never reached the ear drums of many in their originally conceived recordings.
Created throughout the entire isolation of 2020 and 2021, this motivating album led our hearts away from the unknowns of the cross-minded and naysayers. Real art is not dead and gone, it’s just locked deep inside of us and it’s not in some fad oriented regurgitating consumer driven dream market of blind ignorance. ...For Now.
Also, this record took a mix of 20 year old songs and brand new material. Without the boat load of featured musical icons from the history of the Atlanta Music Scene lending their talents and skill sets to these 10 hand picked tunes… Well, it just wouldn’t have turned out so damned magical.
