Here's to new experiences! In addition to my regular space inside Old River Valley Antique Mall , I'm joining a group of vendors doing occasional pop-up sales in some sheds. It'll be like a mini flea market in the parking lot. 😁 Much fun will be had and there are great deals to be made!

Come and see!!!

Sorting things for the shop...

Having spent extensive time in both New England and North Dakota, I assure you that they do not really resemble each other. 🤣

Why would you name a town in North Dakota... New England???

I started this post the other day but there was a lot of chaos with flea markets and Gold Rush and such, so... Now, here's the fun news!!!

During the last week, I have worked three days at Old River Valley Antique Mall , where I noticed the same group of several people buying stacks of clothes and random items in larger quantities every day I was behind the counter.

I briefly heard part of their background earlier, but it wasn't until Thursday's purchases that I got the full story. They are working on a movie with David Arquette (!!!) that is filming in Rochester and the surrounding areas. It's about demolition derbies.

How exciting!!! 😃

Many of ORVAM's vendors' items and clothing are being chosen by the prop and costume department for this movie! These items include vintage clothing, hats, patches, signs, and other props. Personally, I know they bought some b**r shirts & antlers from our section for sure, maybe more.

See attached photos for the press release that they showed me. The young lady pictured (with permission!) is Stine, "like Christine without the Chris" as she said. She's originally from Norway but currently living in New York and she's absolutely delightful.

And now we can say... ORVAM's stuff is so awesome, it's even used in the movies!!! 😱🤩

Effective today, Friday, Aug 14, 2026, I am creating a policy re: item purchases.

Simply stated: no returns.

Longer version:

I was offered several items for purchase about a month ago, which I did, and paid immediately and professionally. Since then, I have had several rounds of contact where one of the sellers called, asking to buy back some items that were "accidentally included family heirlooms." During this time, I was initially unavailable due to family reasons of my own, yet the individual aggressively called, despite being told of my unavailability.

Shortly after, I attempted to make these items available and was no-showed once.

The second time I made the items available, the seller met me and then chose not to purchase all items back.

Then I was recontacted.... AGAIN.... that the final item was indeed still desired, and upon meeting, the person tried to LEAVE WITHOUT PAYING ME.

I was offering the items at very low prices, far below retail, because out of the goodness of heart, I was trying to get these family pieces back to those who appreciated them. However, after bending over backwards, being treated unprofessionally and discourteously, and flat out insulted.... I need to protect myself.

In the future, I will probably have a small legal document drawn up for sellers to sign that once I pay for them, the items are mine and there are no returns. They can buy items back at my listed retail prices in the future. This makes me really sad to have to say. I believe in the inherent goodness of humans, but there are those who take advantage of others' kindness and in this situation, I definitely was.

And as long as I am stating "no returns," I'm just going to cover all my bases and say that once you purchase something from me, a full return is not available.

I pride myself in reasonable prices and quality items. I love saving vintage/antique items from being unappreciated, and connecting them to those that do. I enjoy interacting with people who feel the same. Stories and the camaraderie that comes with the antique/vintage/flea market is a whole world of experience.

Thank you for supporting my small business, and this dream of mine which has had many enjoyable moments over the last decade.

Edit : if you find yourself in the position of selling estate items in the future, please please PLEASE make sure you have carefully gone thru all items before finalizing a sale with an outside party. This was REALLY awkward for me, and to be honest, led me to tears in private.

Happy Primary Day in Minnesota!

You'll find me behind the counter at Old River Valley Antique Mall today (Tues 11) and Thurs (13) in Stewartville MN, 9:30-5pm.

Then on Saturday the 15th, catch me at M & J Storage with Martin Gibson , Julie Lerch McCready and the whole crew, doing our monthly flea market. There are several returning vendors, along with new ones and always a food truck!

Coming soon... Some Fri/Sat popup sales behind ORVAM with Chris Rand Kujath , Niki Storing, Michelle Peterson, and Pat Staley. We are making mini-flea markets happen for all to enjoy! 😃
