For a long time, I think I confused being capable with being responsible for everything.
If I could carry it, I did.
If I could figure it out, I would.
If something needed to get done, I’d find a way.
And somewhere along the way, exhaustion started feeling like proof that I was doing enough.
But I’ve discovered recently.. I don’t want that anymore.
I don’t actually want to stop working.
I don’t want to stop dreaming big, building things, making money, chasing ideas or wanting more for my life.
I just want to stop feeling like every waking hour of my life needs to produce something.
I still want success. Actually, I think I want it more than ever.
But I want the kind of success that leaves room for me, too.
Room to be a mom.
Room to be a friend.
Room to have hobbies I don’t monetize.
Room to take a walk in the middle of the day.
Room to change my mind.
Room to start over.
Room to sit down without immediately thinking about what I should be doing next.
I thought by 35 I was supposed to have figured out who I was.
Turns out, I’m finally figuring out who I don’t want to be anymore.
And maybe that’s an even better place to start. 🩷
