Fall Night Sky Targets: M45 | The Pleiades

The Seven Sisters are back in the evening sky!

M45, better known as the Pleiades, is one of the most recognizable and breathtaking star clusters in the night sky. Located approximately 440 light-years away in the constellation Ta**us, its brilliant blue stars illuminate surrounding clouds of cosmic dust, creating beautiful reflection nebulosity.

Visible to the naked eye and incredible through binoculars or a wide-field telescope, the Pleiades is a must-see target this fall.

For astrophographers, the Explore Scientific ED80 refractor is a great choice for capturing this stunning cluster and its surrounding nebulosity.

What’s your favorite fall night sky target?

What an incredible weekend under the stars!

We had an amazing time at the Missouri Dark Sky Festival, connecting with fellow astronomy enthusiasts, experiencing some truly spectacular dark skies, and learning more about the impact of light pollution.

Events like this are such an important reminder of why preserving our night skies matters. The universe has so much to show us when we turn down the lights.

Thank you to everyone who organized the festival and to all the wonderful people we met along the way. We can’t wait to do it again!
