To give someone the gift of a season is truly a great gift.
To have the ability to look at a woman who has always been something you love and admire and to know that when suddenly she stops being all of the things you love, that it is not because she has changed but because it is a season.
A season where she needs something and is unable to give much.
A season where she needs grace and understanding and so very much prayer.
A season where she knows that you cry with her and that you are there for her if she needs you but not offended if she doesn’t.
To be able to let her cope and get through the day however she needs to, to finish that day.
To not discard her for not being what she always was.
To love her even harder now that she is not all of the good things, than you did when she was.
This is truly a gift.
People pleasers struggle with the idea that some people can’t be made happy.
I like for people to be happy with me.
I like it entirely too much.
Learning to be okay when they aren’t is zero fun sir.
It is okay to walk through seasons.
God gives us permission:
To everything there is a season.
A time for every purpose under Heaven.
A time to break down and a time to build up.
A time to weep and a time to laugh.
A time to mourn and a time to dance.
A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.
A time to keep silence and a time to speak.

A time for every season♥️

Whether you are a person in this season or a person struggling to allow someone to be there, I hope these words can encourage you.
I have been in both places♥️

Yesterday I went to the hospital to visit a dear friend who is dying of cancer.
I sat with him as he held my hand and spoke words of encouragement and life to me and the tears rolled down my face.

This friend has been a friend who has worn his knees out praying for my family.
In my entire life I will never forget the day that I walked into church emotionally hurting and scared and broken hearted while he was walking into church physically hurting.

Despite my own deep pain I walked up to him to hug him and tell him I was praying for him but despite the fact that his pain was so great that he was searching for a place to sit down to relieve that pain, he hugged me first and told me he was praying for me.
I choked the hot tears back in my throat as I walked away from that hug feeling so seen and loved.

The same way that he made everyone feel that morning.

This morning I am mulling over the words he spoke to me. The words he spoke to my son. The words he used to praise my husband.
The words I know God wanted us to hear because they were so pertinent to exactly where we all are.
♥️♥️♥️

Today is the day we do something we do every year without skipping and I love it.
Can you guess what it is?
The photograph has absolutely nothing to do with it😂
Answer will be in stories tonight!

It has been a strange and overwhelming season for me. So ridiculously many changes. Some good…some, not so good.
People talk about “The Change” that women go through but no one can prepare you for what that actually means. You see, while your body is actually going through such a weird and difficult change that makes you do dumb things like, turning to someone to say a regular old sentence and then all of a sudden all words are gone from your head and you’re just a dumb, blank face or trying to put your makeup on and sweating so much that the sweat mixes with the tears of frustration so that you smear makeup onto a puddle that used to look like your face.
That sentence definitely got too long and ended without ending…but also, perimenopause is now the excuse for everything.
While you’re going through those changes you also experience changes you didn’t know were coming or you chose to not think about them just yet until they crash upon you.
Your children that you invested your entire adult life raising, start growing up.
Some leave and some stay.
Some need certain things while others need different things and as mom, you have to try your hardest during the hardest physical season of your life, to navigate the new changes.
Sometimes you feel like a stranger walking around in a body you don’t recognize in a world you don’t understand while you have no brain to comprehend any of it and also your eyesight starts failing both literally and figuratively.
You used to be super smart and super quick and someone who could remember literally anything.
Now you’re a a big dumb bunny who remembers a whole lot of nothing.
Your greatest desire is to be strong and reliable but you’re not sure if you’re dreaming or awake.
They tell you there are pills and shots that you can take that make it all better but even that seems so incredibly daunting that your simple mind can’t let yourself take advantage of those pills and shots.
You read and pray and spend time with friends and listen to music so that you remember that there is ground and you can walk on it.
They say it lasts ten to fifteen years so I’m one tenth of the way there.
Anyone else?

Did I ever tell you that I used to know everything? Seriously.
In my thirties I knew everything about everything.
I knew the best way to discipline kids.
I knew the best ways to lose weight.
I knew the best way to be a wife.
I knew the best way to love Jesus.
I knew the best church to attend.
I knew how to be perfectly modest.
I knew how to be the best housekeeper.

I literally knew everything and I was happy to tell anyone who would listen all that I knew and if they wouldn’t listen, well then THEY were just too prideful.

*sigh* 😢🥺🫣
I didn’t start realizing all that I actually didn’t know until I hit forty and then I was shocked by it.
Sometimes I feel embarrassed by how little I actually know after all the forty-seven years I’ve lived.
I’m now at the place where I feel like I have zero advice to give and instead only tears to cry with you when you tell me your troubles.
Thirty-some odd year old Jen sure would’ve tried to fix you though and she sure gave it a good old college try anytime the opportunity presented itself.
I’m glad that Jen is gone even though she sure felt stronger and more confident than current Jen.
