In 2017, I got what I thought was an overly specific request from a local player.
I thought it was unreasonable (guitars are, by nature, imperfect instruments).
I figured this player would be impossible to please.
I really needed the money though, so I took the job and found a way to make it happen.
The result: I figured out how to make it happen!
And I could replicate the same process on any acoustic guitar that would hit my bench.
Now, I was unique among my peers (locally!).
The one guy in town compensating saddles precisely, for each player, and their preferred specs.
Yeah, it takes longer.
And not every guitar needs that kind of precision.
Not every player wants it.
But for the ones looking, all of a sudden, there I was!
All because I agreed to an "unreasonable" request for precise saddle compensation.
Note: There are definitely shops that *do* offer this. Those of us working this way are more rare than one might assume!
