It’s time to meet the staff of lovely workers who try their best to make your shopping experience a pleasant, if not memorable one.

āļø Stephanie āļø
She is the zookeeper who keeps everyone in tip-top shape, also known as the manager. She started working for The Book Rack in 2018 and shortly thereafter became the top dog. Her business degree has certainly helped not only wrangle her coworkers but also update the store. She’s an avid reader; she’s already read over 100 books this year alone, and still going. But she’s not just a reader. She loves the outdoors too. However, something to note. If you ever see a tiny spider in the store, don’t tell her. Just kill it! She’s got a real phobia. (We’ve all seen it.)

āļø Danielle āļø
She’s been at the store for a while, since 2019. She’s known as the annoyingly funny’ one. You’ll catch her chuckling at one thing or another; she almost always has a smile on her face. She does talk to herself when shelving, so don’t mind the quiet outbursts… Like most who work at the store, she too enjoys reading. Her preferred genres are thriller and suspense. She’s also known as an ADHD hobbyist, constantly going from one to the next. Also, in case you didn’t know, she’s the one who hand makes the stuff for the display near the front door.

āļø Megan āļø
Our long-time resident has been at the store since 2012. She’s watched the changes first hand and been through moves as the store moved from one location to the next. She’s our go-to person if your inquiring about romance or erotica, or even the classics. She’s got a degree in English Literature. When she’s not reading, she’s quilting or spending time with family. She’s very allergic to dogs (so thank you for not bringing your furbabies). Also, she wants you to know she’s partially deaf, so it’s okay to ā€˜yell’ at her.

āļø Isabella āļø
Last but certainly not least, is our latest rising star! This young lady has been with us since 2022. She started right when the store’s remodel was starting. She not only helped out but stuck around, after helping to relocate over 60K books throughout the store! What a trooper! She’s a reader who likes to read fantasy, horror and manga and she’s even in a private book club with her friends. You may not see her around very often. She’s a busy lady! When she’s not gracing us with her presence, she’s helping her dad on the family farm and working a full time job.

Hey Teachers,

Do you use your personal account to buy books for your classroom? Did you know, we have an account just for teachers that you can use instead to get up to half off your purchase. All you need to do is show your teacher ID/badge.

(Please keep in mind, this is a shared account for all teachers and only applies to books for your classroom.)

Did you know The Book Rack has been open here in Springfield for 30+ years? We’ve been at this current location for the last twenty years.

Since our new ownership in 2016, we have made significant improvements with management, staff and the store overall. We got new signage added to the front store a few years ago, which was an exciting day for all of us. (Sometimes it doesn’t take much to make us happy. 🤣)

We also remodeled about four years ago in August by adding new space, improving the shelving and lighting, and putting all the genres closer together to make your shopping experience easier. We now also offer gift items like mugs, puzzles, stickers, journals, and bookmarks.

Stop in today to see what’s available!

Our store hours:
Monday-Friday 10am-6pm
Saturday 10am-6pm
Sunday CLOSED

Location:
2943 West White Oaks Drive, Suite 3

Trade Policy Info:

When bringing in books, we ask that you bring no more than a small bag or a small box (approximately 10-15 books).

We will take a look through your books and see what’s appropriate to take based on relevance and condition.

We give store credit for what we can take. Credit then pays for up to 50% of your purchase (books only) and stays valid for up to one year. When giving credit, it’s based on the retail cost of the book. We give 25% of that in credit. However, on hardcover books, it’s usually $1-2 a book.

Any books we can’t accept do go back with you.

You do not need an appointment when bringing in books. Feel free to stop in during our regular business hours. However, we do not accept books after 5:30pm on Monday through Friday, or after 4:30pm on Saturdays.

Books we do not accept are: textbooks, water damaged, firmer library books (with the exception of large print), and encyclopedias. We are selective on nonfiction.
