A rumor has come to our attention that another wire company is rebranding and selling Coil Society wire. THIS IS NOT THE CASE – There is no other company rebranding our wire, and there is in fact no alternate outlet for our wire in any of the regions we serve via the store, not physically, nor on Amazon nor eBay nor anywhere else. We do have some small retail stores nationwide (US) that carry our spools in limited quantities, and there are a handful of venders outside our service areas that sell Coil Society spools – if you would like to check the authenticity of a spool you may have purchased you can always do so by contacting us directly at [email protected] or via FB direct message here on the store page.
But we will say it again: if a spool is Coil Society wire it will have our standard label/branding on it. If it is a small spool it will be white and slightly flexible, with a slit on the fl**ge; if it is a large spool it will be rigid, white or black alternatively depending on when it was produced, and will have a small hole on the fl**ge. The wire will be secured loop-back style on the spool in the way all of our wire always has been. And there is no other company rebranding our wire.
Though we’re not going to point fingers or drop names here, if you’ve heard this rumor about another company’s wire, then that is likely the company in question. It would seem that this rumor was directly spread by the owner. It also seems likely that this person has indicated to still others that the wire is actually ANOTHER company’s wire, rebranded of course.
Having never been in a position to address something like this, we’re a little unsure how to react. Needing to put out a clarification like this is almost unbelievable. But here we are.
However, one thing we are sure about is that our wire stands alone in the market. We source from smaller manufacturers with specific chemical and physical tolerances, and our spooling process is wholly unique in the industry. Other companies (likely not this imposter company, however) have good spooling and good wire. But it is not our wire. It is not spooled like our wire and it is not backed by a company like Coil Society. Our process means that every single foot, every cm, of a spool has human eyes on it from the beginning of spooling to the end. This has helped us achieve one of the lowest spool defect/failure rates in the industry, and gives us confidence to stand behind every spool 100%. This fact is generally most evident when dealing with ribbon. As any customer can verify, Coil Society ribbon comes off the spool straight as an arrow, and if it does not (as happened a few years ago from a mis-tensioned run of 0.3mm) we will get you ribbon that does.
And we don’t intend to drone on, as likely this is already tl;dr
But for the record: It’s always irresponsible to float unsubstantiated rumors. It’s likely actionable if rumors like this one were known to be false by the one spreading them, as is certainly the case here. And the internet never forgets. We’re prepared to move on and let the matter lie with this statement.
Thanks for your time, everyone who made it this far 🙂
