💜 COMMUNITY HELP NEEDED FOR A 15-YEAR-OLD BOY 💜

SafePlace is currently helping a 15-year-old young man who has very little and will be starting school this Wednesday. One of his biggest immediate needs is shoes that actually fit him.

He wears a men’s size 15 and has specifically asked for a pair of dress shoes. We would love to be able to provide him with a brand-new pair so he can walk into school feeling comfortable and confident. If anyone would like to donate a new pair or contribute toward purchasing them, we would be incredibly grateful.

He is also in need of:

👞 Men’s size 15 dress shoes — NEW preferred
👔 2X dress shirts
👔 2X button-down shirts
👕 2X undershirts
👖 Size 44 slacks/dress pants
🧦 Men’s socks
🩲 2X underwear — NEW only

If you are able to help with any one of these items, it would mean so much. Monetary donations toward purchasing the correct sizes are also greatly appreciated.

Sometimes something as simple as having clothes and shoes that fit can make a huge difference for a teenager starting a new school year. Let’s show this young man that his community is behind him. 💜

Donations can be brought to SafePlace Thrift.

Please share so we can get everything he needs as quickly as possible before school starts Wednesday! 💜
Thank you so very much!!

When someone you care about is experiencing domestic or sexual violence, you may feel like you do not know what to do.

You don't have to have all the answers.

Some of the most helpful things can also be the most practical. A ride can make an appointment possible. Knowing about a local resource can save someone from having to search for help alone. Childcare, a meal, or simply sitting with someone while they make a difficult phone call can make things feel a little easier.

And sometimes, the most important thing you can offer is a safe person to talk to.

Supporting a survivor does not mean making decisions for them or telling them what they should do. Listen. Believe them. Respect their choices. Ask, “What would be helpful to you right now?”

Small acts of support cannot solve every challenge survivors face, but they can make those challenges easier to navigate and remind someone that support exists close to home.

If you or someone you know needs confidential support, Mitchell County SafePlace’s 24/7 hotline is 828-765-4044.

Must be picked up today or it will be taken to the dump.
If you don’t mind cigarette smoke and a little pet hair, this is a beautiful oversized chair and ottoman.

🚨 PLEASE — WE ARE NOT A DUMPING STATION! 🚨

While I completely understand that the landfill is closed this week, please do not use our store as a place to dump unwanted or unsellable items.

Our thrift store accepts CLEAN, SELLABLE donations that we can resell to help support victims of domestic violence and provide assistance for many other needs throughout our community. 💜

Unfortunately, we continue to have items left that are dirty, broken, damaged, or simply trash.

I am respectfully asking — PLEASE STOP USING OUR STORE AS A DUMPING STATION.

We are already working with limited staff, and I simply do not have employees available to haul away and dispose of items that should have gone to the landfill in the first place.

Every load of trash left with us costs our organization time, manpower, and money that could instead be used to help people in our community who truly need it.

💜 Please donate responsibly.
If you wouldn’t buy it because of its condition, please don’t leave it for us to deal with.

Thank you to everyone who respects our donation guidelines and continues to support our mission. Your good, usable donations truly do make a difference!
