Opened in 1947 by Max Spicer, Spicer's 5 &10 was one of hundreds of dimestores in the St. It was the last one of it's kind when it closed in 2006. In 1961, Jim McNulty took over the reigns and transformed the business into an nationally reknowned retailer. Famous for unparalleled customer service and unique merchandise selection

. Through the 80's and 90's Spicer's expanded to three location throughout the St. Louis area, as well as a very sucessful mail-order business. Louisan's shopped at Spicer's for all their merchandise needs. It was the go-to place for anything you needed... if they didn't have it, they'd get it for you.
