I’m not sure there’s more authentic bookshop photo! Sometimes I think 75% of owning a tiny book store is just moving boxes from place to place 😆. We’ve got lots of new titles in this week — snag a book today so we can haul more boxes next week! As my mom likes to say: free aerobics 💪

A special happy birthday to Graham today!

He is very behind the scenes at Anchovy. He usually shows up at the tail end of Hot Dishes to snag some food/cleanup, helps unload all of the boxes out of cars, and hasn’t met a sweet treat that he doesn’t like 🍪. He has been supportive of this cookbook dream and has listened to countless hours of me talking about this for years and now listens to Sara and I talk about it all the time 😂! He is also the one when I started with the mobile cookbook store to call it “Vanchovy” instead of Anchovy. He said it just made sense and was funny.

Thanks for always being there, supporting both Sara and I ❤️ and encouraging us to take risks. Sara will make you whatever cookies you want and I will keep feeding you!

We’re OPEN tomorrow from 5-8 PM for Cherokee Street First Thursdays. Our friend Alvin will be covering the shop and he has a wealth of canning and jam knowledge. He even shares his spoils with us when he can! This strawberry rhubarb jam will not last long in my fridge.

Several galleries and shops along will be open tomorrow evening, so enjoy a stroll down our favorite street 🥰

Made a cake + jam yesterday! Graham and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary with friends and family in our kitchen with lots of flowers🌼.

Cake details: Vanilla cake with a lemon zest frosting and strawberry sumac filling (all vegan and you would never know). I have been waiting to try some recipes from Cake From Lucie and this was the perfect occasion!

If you have talked to me in the store you know that I don’t bake very often. I don’t always have the right ingredients or follow the directions all the way. This time I weighed all the ingredients out, went to the store 3 different times, used my friend Rachel’s oven (and all of her powdered sugar) and was able to use my gallon of strawberries I froze a few weeks ago 🍓. I call this a baking success!

Update on the gallon o’ strawberries situation:

- strawberry rhubarb galette (used the any-kind-of-fruit galette recipe from which is always a winner) served on Gramma’s china.
- fat slice of pan fried bread from Skald Bakery, homemade ricotta (also from Smitten Kitchen), strawberries, flowers from my garden.
- strawberry margarita, no recipe, just went on vibes and no regrets.
