Everybody’s favorite time of year at Hargrove’s is almost here. Starting October 13 fly tying nights are back!

Whether you’re new to fly fishing or have been at it for years, Fly Nights are for everyone. We’ll have more details and dates coming soon, so keep an eye out. We can’t wait to get these nights rolling again. Keep an eye on our website for more dates added. We have quite a few awesome classes planned for this fall.

Jay Petry (WY 2026)

Jay and his son Ryan got out west for a day on the drift boat and found themselves in some beautiful trout water. There’s just something about floating a river, chasing trout, and spending the day with your son. Hard to beat days like this.

We hope you got out on the water this Labor Day when the weather finally cooled down a bit. Our crew made the most of the holiday and got on the river. Captain Chris spent the day with his wife, his two sons, and our own Noah Shulz at Westover Farms. The “Westover Wizard” himself made sure the little Conant’s stayed on the fish. Hard to beat a Labor Day like this!

We just got in a fresh shipment of Shilton SR reels, including the SR10 and SR12 available here at Hargrove’s!

These reels are flying off the shelves because they’re the real freaking deal. If you’ve been thinking about adding a Shilton to your saltwater setup, now is the time to come check them out at Hargrove’s. We have the SR10 and SR12 in stock now. Shilton has built a reputation for making reels that are made to handle serious fish, especially when a fish gets hot and starts taking line.

Ryan Roth (AR 2026)

Ryan got into a beautiful long brown trout on the White. Take a look at the color on this fish. You can’t beat that golden brown tug on the end of the line. What a fish!

When it comes to rod building, there aren’t many people who know more than Tom Hargrove. Tom has built more rods in his lifetime than he can count and is the only master rod builder among all the fly shops in St. Louis. Our community is beyond lucky to have that expertise right here in St. Louis because there are only a few people with his level of knowledge of rod building in the world.

Here’s Tom helping a customer select wrapping materials for a bamboo rod. Before you start building a rod, stop by Hargrove’s and talk with someone who actually knows the craft inside and out.

Bob Glik (MT 2026)

Bob got into a beautiful brown trout while fishing with Max Valler, former Hargrove shop hand, now with his own outfit Flatwater Outfitters.

We’ve shared plenty of photos of fish from Max’s boat, and there’s a reason for it. Max knows Montana, knows where the fish like to be, and keeps the oars dialed in all day long. Great fish, Bob!

Nick Walker (AK 2026)

Nick stopped by the shop a few weeks before heading to Alaska to stock up on some flies, and it looks like we got him dialed in! He put those flies to work and got hooked up to this beautiful salmon on the fly. We love seeing success stories from our customers, especially when they’re thousands of miles from home.
