Nature, A Picture Of The Promise
My spirit has been quiet this season as I study the life of Abraham and the integral part his faith played in this Advent season.
As I read about his faith, and his ability to simply receive the royal promise from God, Iβm convicted by my efforts to strive and achieve some of the things the Lord has promised me. For so long, I dreamed of working and building WITH God, forgetting that there are some things God wants to do FOR me, not with me. And, my part, like Abrahamβs, is to simply enter into the promise, trusting that Heβll bring it together in His WAY in His TIMING. No Ishmaelβs, please!
As I meditate on this story, I love how the Lord uses nature as a picture of the promise for Abraham.
In these pieces, rich blues represent the night sky and sea, while golden splatters represent the stars in the sky and the sand on the shore. Bleeding vertical and horizontal compositions are nods to the great expanse of the galaxy and coastlines; their breadth, just like the promise, can never be fully comprehended.
May these pieces serve as a reminder that faith (trusting in God), not works, is all thatβs required to fulfill the promise.
