Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to build several rifles connected to local history and organizations, including rifles used to help raise funds for community causes.

With that experience in mind, I’ve put together a small Heritage Rifle Commission Program for historical societies, fire departments, museums, and other community organizations that may be interested in a similar project.

The idea is fairly simple: research the history of a community or organization, identify a rifle that would be appropriate to that history, and build it using traditional methods. The finished rifle can then serve as the centerpiece of a fundraiser while also telling a piece of local history!

I’ve included some additional information below for anyone who may be interested. As always, I’m happy to talk rifles, history, or ideas with any organization considering a project!

Good morning all!

Been a while since the last post, but Laurel Ridge Flintlocks will be at the Battle of Bushy Run Reenactment at Bushy Run Battlefield this weekend.

Members of the Stahlstown Flax Scutching Festival will be there as well, selling tickets for the "Collaboration Rifle," which will be raffled off on September 20th.

Hi all! Stop by the Stahlstown Flax Scutching Festival this weekend and come see Guy working on a rifle! Members of a Longrifle interest club will also be tagging along and demonstrating various aspects of gunsmithing in the 18th century.

Plenty of Living History at the Festival this year, so come check it out!

It's been a busy spring! Here is another build that Guy finished up recently. This one is made in the Lancaster PA school style. Stock was cut from just up on the mountain!

P.S. If this rifle is still around, make sure to come see it at a local show Guy will be attending. Braddocks Crossing, The Battle of Bushy Run reenactment, and the Stahlstown Flax Scutching are on the list so far!

Here’s a rifle that Guy recently built for a local customer. The rifle is built in the style of the Bucks County, PA school. It is decorated with relief carving on the cheek.

Come see Allen (Guy) in action at the Stahlstown Flax Scutching Festival this weekend, September 16th and 17th. He will be bringing his bench up to the festival grounds where he will be working on a rifle. The Living History area is greatly expanded this year as well!

Along with the Living History, come visit the Festival and get some of the amazing buckwheat cakes, whole hog sausage, soups, burgers, and more! Also enjoy live music and crafters on the grounds, as well as the live demonstration of turning Flax into Linen!

At the end of the day, don't miss the reenactment of a Native American raid that took place in Stahlstown in 1777-1778!
