I’m learning that I don’t need to fight my love of solitude.
For a long time, I carried guilt around it.
Should I be more social?
Should I say yes more often?
Should I want to be around people more?
But what if there’s nothing wrong with wanting to wander off on my own?
I love people. I love connection. I love gathering with the right people.
But I also love quiet mornings, long walks alone, being near the water, exploring without a plan, and having space where I can hear my own thoughts.
And I’m realizing that solitude and loneliness are not the same thing.
Maybe the invitation isn't to force ourselves into the flock—or to reject it entirely.
Maybe it’s to learn when to join, when to wander, and when to simply fly our own way.
There is something powerful about trusting your own nature instead of constantly comparing your life to someone else's.
So these days, when I feel that little tug of guilt because I’d rather be alone, I’m trying something different.
I pause.
I get curious.
Is there actually something wrong?
Or is this simply what I need right now?
Maybe growing isn't always about becoming more social, more productive, more connected, or more anything.
Maybe sometimes it's about becoming brave enough to listen to yourself.
And giving yourself permission to be exactly where you are.
There is freedom in knowing your own way. And maybe there is a little wonder waiting there, too.

After allowing myself a few lazy hot and humid days, Sundays cool and foggy vibes called to me to get out and I decided to take on an 8.5 mile loop Id been wanting to tackle. Im an interval runner, so it was a great opportunity to focus on form and practice different intervals on gentle inclines while focusing on hydration and staying disciplined to keep my heart rate below 160, where I am prone to overheat. These solo runs are my heart's song. No music or podcast needed, just the sounds of nature and listening to my body. This was MY morning and Im grateful to have these mountain roads that allow me to put one foot in front of the other.

Tucked away off a quiet spur trail at Lake Wanahoo... 🥾🪶

Stumbled upon this peaceful scene of American White Pelicans—one of North America's largest birds—resting together on the water. Their graceful presence, even from a distance, is absolutely mesmerizing.

Here are a few fun facts about these magnificent birds:

🪶 Wingspan: Up to 9 feet—nearly as wide as a small car!
🪶 Migration pros: They travel hundreds to thousands of miles between breeding grounds in the northern plains and wintering spots along the Gulf Coast and Mexico.
🪶 Fishing style: Unlike brown pelicans, they don’t dive. Instead, they scoop fish cooperatively in shallow water using their huge bills.
🪶 Bill pouch: That signature orange pouch can hold up to 3 gallons of water and fish!
🪶 Silent birds: Despite their size, they are mostly quiet—no squawking flocks here, just the sound of wings and water.
