Can Rit Dye Baseball Bats? Our friend tested it out to create two different ombre stains. Here are some helpful tips + tricks for the best results:

⚾️ Strip the bats of all factory paints and finishes OR use unfinished bats, most store bought bats will have a coating of some sort

⚾️ Mix two cups of hot water with two to three tablespoons of Rit All Purpose Dye for each color used

⚾️ Cut up an old t-shirt to apply the dyes evenly on the bat—a rag or foam brush works as well.

⚾️ Stain the entire surface with the lightest color, working down the bat with each additional color, fading them into each other.

⚾️ Apply vinyl logo or sticker if desired

⚾️ Use a clear coat over the entire bat to lock in the dye. Sanding between coats may be preferred based on preference. This also helps achieve the factory finish look

Did you know you can stain wood and wicker with dye? 👀🧺🪵 it creates rich, dimensional color that actually soaks in—not just sits on top. Because it’s water-based (not heavy, oil-based), the natural grain still shines through for that perfectly textured finish.
And the best part? No chipping. No peeling. Just color that becomes part of the piece. ✨
DIY that looks high-end, without the hassle.
