July update on the farm. We continue to be blessed with an abundance of rain and despite a short heat wave, temperatures have been ideal. Shearing of trees is 90% complete with over 3,500 sheared to date. Harvest selection will be excellent this season. The girls(sheep) have been in the field for several weeks and are munching their way across the farm. Next week the Iowa Christmas Tree Association will be setting up their display for the great Iowa State Fair in the Ag Building and we are honored to take one tree from our farm. Wow! It’s been awhile since our last post. While we may have been neglecting our social media account, work on the farm has been progressing. We have had a fairly normal spring with enough rain. This week we started shearing trees. The scotch pine are finished and today we started on white pine. I can’t believe this 10’ white pine has made it this long. I had to take a picture to share. 🎄🎄🎄

The goal was to be done shearing by late July. There is nothing like a meaningless internal deadline to motivate for the final push. I’m pleased to announce that the 2025 shearing season is complete! By the way, the trees look amazing!

I don’t remember the last time I sheared with a sweatshirt on! Trees look great and shearing is almost complete.

It’s been a busy week of shearing, but I’m glad to say the pines are all done!🌲🥵 The fir trees are still growing out and won’t be ready to shear for another 10 days.
