AUGUST 21st NEW ARRIVALS / Stax of Trax Records

Took my opportunity to get 3 boxes of records into the store today after the rain ended. Included in the three was a box of the ever popular Cheap Thrills records. Lots of great, just acquired LP's hit the other bins today. Pictured highlights are a great eclectic mix of all originals except the Rush set. Let's start w/ Wanda Jackson 60's Country & Rockabilly Queen. the 3LP Bangladesh box set, the soundtrack to Zabriskie Point, a cool 1970 film that features 3 rare Pink Floyd tracks as well a a rare Jerry Garcia track along with other cool cuts, Stevie Wonder classic - Songs in the Key of Life, a great 3LP Temptation collection, a white label promo copy of Miles Davis - Live In Europe, Rush - All the World's a Stage, the essential Peter Tosh classic - Equal Rights and the Fleetwood Mac record that preceded Rumours. Lots more great LP's will hit the shop next week so stay posted

Stax of Trax / AUGUST 15th NEW ARRIVALS!!

A little late on my posting this week. I stocked lots of really cool records this week w/ more to come next week Today's pictured highlights feature lots of classics that I haven't had in the store for a long time like Captain Beefheart - Doc at the Radar Station, a rare original copy of a Small Faces LP Ogden's Nut Gone Flake w/ incredible foldout cover that looks like an old to***co tin! Next up is Aretha Franklin's Greatest Hits, Jimi Hendrix - Cry of Love (the last & great studio LP), a mint UK copy of Lou Reed Best Of - Walk On the Wild Side, a rare Jazz Funk LP from Wes' brother Monk Montgomery - Bass Odyssey, and a rare original record from Wes Montgomery himself - The Incredible Jazz Guitar of, an original copy of Rush - Caress of Steel and a mint reissue of the Howlin' Wolf classic - The Real Folk Blues. Well since I'm a bit late we'll stop there. Get 'em while you can!

AUGUST 8th STAX of TRAX NEW ARRIVALS !!

i dropped a couple of boxes of records at the store a little earlier. Pictured highlights include an original German copy of Velvet Underground - Loaded, a S/T Lita Ford album, a red vinyl copy of a Pittsburgh record from Diamond Rio (the band included Pittsburgh Rock legends Norm Nardini and Warren King), Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention - Freak Out (2 LP set), a rare 1970 instrumental Funk LP by The Nite-Liters, a mint Rocky Horror Picture Show album, a mint Rolling Stones classic - Let It Bleed, a mint original David Bowie - Low records and a mint original Lapwagon LP - Trashed. Much more to dig for tomorrow so I'll stop now.

Stax of Trax - AUGUST 1st NEW ARRIVALS!!!

Good evening! I just brought a couple of boxes of new to the store a little while ago. Continuing w/ my friend's cool LP's and just lots of other interesting pieces. Pictured items include a rare Jazz LP from the legendary George Russell - Jazz in the Space Age (that features Bill Evans), another rare LP from Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops, a couple more great Reggae records - Black Ash Dub and Black Uhuru - Black Sounds of Freedom, a UK original of my fave John McLaughlin - LP - My Goals Beyond, a classic 1969 Soul LP on Atlantic - Clarence Carter - Testifying, a beautiful original copy of Jeff Beck's classic - Truth, a mint Japanese Verve copy of Wes Montgomery - Bumpin' and last but certainly not least a great original copy of Martha & the Vandellas Motown.Gordy classic - Dance Party!! Some great stuff w/ plenty more to dig out of the bins tomorrow! I also brought in some more $1 45's which I will be putting out when I get there. I will try my best to keep 'em coming as it seems like people are into digging & buying them.

STAX of TRAX JULY 25th NEW ARRIVALS!!

Two boxes of new records hit the bins tonight. The pictured highlights feature many records from the collection that I mentioned in last weeks post. All the LP's are original copies! We start w/ a rare 70's Soul/Funk LP - Aquarian Dream - Fantasy, The Jungle Brothers - Done By the Forces of Nature, Wayne Shorter - Moto Grosso Feio, a great Bob Marley & the Wailers comp of Ska tracks that they played on, Lita Ford - Lita, Motley Crue - Too Fast For Love, Donald Fagen - The Nightfly, Rush - Moving Pictures and David Bowie - Heroes. And lots more so dig in and find 'em!

JULY 18th NEW ARRIVALS

So I'm re-posting this from yesterday w/o the info about the Alash show at Manny's last night that took the packed house on another incredible music journey.

I brought in two boxes last night. Pictured highlights from those records that I stocked included Bob Marley - Live from Boston 1978, a great Memphis Slim LP on Folkways as well as some other really cool Blues comps from my collection. Also a great original copy of Crosby Stills Nash & Young - So Far, a great French copy of Osibisa - Woyaya (great Ghana band that were popular in the UK in the 70's), an original copy of The Jackson Five - Greatest Hits, an original copy of The Doors - Morrison Hotel, James Brown - 16 Unbeatable Hits, a couple of cool Jazz organ LP's from Johnny "Hammond" Smith and great Ijahman LP - Live in Europe (as well as a bunch more Reggae LPs!).

Stay tuned next week as I will start to stock some cool & hard to find records that I just acquired.

JULY 18th NEW ARRIVALS / ALASH @ MANNY'S TONIGHT 7PM 7/17

I'm about to bring a couple of boxes to the shop so I can get to Manny's tonight for the incredible performance from Alash - a group of master musicians/throat singers from Tuva in southern Siberia. I've seen these guys a few times now and it's always a seriously mind blowing experience that you will never forget. For more info check out Manny's website.

JULY 9th NEW ARRIVALS!!

A day early on my post this week w/ the start of Arts Fest starting today. Don't be afraid of parking as you can always find street parking. So I managed to get a nice box of really cool records together in this a short pricing week but I did dig out some rare gems for everyone. For example the pictured highlights (all originals): Black Sabbath - Master of Reality, The Yardbirds - For Your Love (my very first album purchase & still one of my fave records!), The Shangri-Las - Leader of the Pack, Led Zeppelin - Three, David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust, Country Negro Jam Session (great Arhoolie comp! and I mention this one because I dug out a lot of old Blues & Soul comps), a mint Crosby, Stills & Nash original w/ the original hype sticker attached to the back cover, The Beatles - Yesterday & Today and The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed classic w/ original poster. Lots of other great records too. I'll be in the store tomorrow as well as Saturday, maybe start at 11am or Noon both days. Let me know if you can't make it during that time frame and I''l try to fit into your time frame.

JULY 4th NEW ARRIVALS!!

Sorry for the slightly dark photo. I dropped almost 3 boxes of new records at the store for tomorrow's perusal. It's been awfully dead this week so I probably won't be in tomorrow. I will be on call so if you really need to see me especially if you're coming in from out of town I do live very close by. Don't hesitate to call. I'm going to take the opportunity to reorganize my music room (much needed). Pictured highlights include Hank Williams -40 Greatest Hits (and another original mono copy). The next one is pretty rare find for you Smiths fans. It's an original 1984 UK EP by the 60's UK Pop star Sandie Shaw. The three tracks on it were all co-written by Morrissey & Johnny Marr just for Sandie and Johnny plays on it as well. Other new arrivals are Jazz LP's from Buddy Terry & two from Norman Connors. And all of a sudden I've been finding Lynyrd Skynyrd records including two more including Second Helping, an original French LP from Tabu Ley Rochereau, an original Black Sabbath debut LP, some early Genesis LP's including an original UK Foxtrot album and an original Stevie Wonder - I Was Made To Love Her. Lots more some come in when you can

JUNE 27th NEW ARRIVALS!!

Sorry for the late post but I was having a party in my backyard spinning some crazy music for my friends the lightning bugs. So dropped a couple of boxes of cool records at the shop yesterday including some LP's I haven't had in the shop for a while as well as a bunch of Jazz albums. Pictured highlights include a great 2nd pressing copy of Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced (in shrink), a couple of 180 gram John Coltrane reissues - A Love Supreme & My Favorite Things, a bunch of Chick Corea LP's including the pictured classic Return To Forever (mint German original!), a beautiful original copy of Sly & the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On, an original copy of Bob Marley & the Wailers - Live, a mint reissue of a rare & cool Funk Soul LP - Harlem Underground (that includes the classic Funk track Smokin' Cheeba Cheeba), a nice original Neil Young Harvest LP, a couple of vintage Lynyrd Skynyrd LP's (haven't had those for a while) and an original promo copy of Mother Mania from Frank Zappa & The Mothers. Lots more cool stuff to dig for!

I also added a new Cheap Thrills section that I titled Icons that features beautiful $5 copies of records from Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong & Frank Sinatra. The section is next to the Classical Cheap Thrills
