What does it take to bring a mural to Downtown Statesville? 🎨

Before we could ask what should we paint?, we had to answer a much bigger question: where could we paint it?
After more than a year of searching for the right wall, location and willing partner, we found it at American Renaissance School on Cooper Street.

And this wall comes with an even bigger opportunity: giving students and our community a chance to help shape the story it tells.

Finding the wall was step one. Next up? Meet the artist bringing it to life: Max Dowdle.

Meet Riley Fitzpatrick, a blacksmith known for his skill, his love of horses, and a life that took a dark turn after he was accused of horse theft.

His story is one of loyalty, accusation, punishment, and a final twist that still leaves questions behind.
