End of an Era

After over a decade of being in the valley, the Pocono slot car track has found a new home out-of-state this weekend.

Here are some photos through the years starting with Lynn Combs who originally brought Pocono to the area at his Slot Car Garage.

Years later my dad Russ bought it from him making it the first staple track for Staunton Miniature Speedway.

There have been tens of thousands of laps with many different winners on that track. I don’t have an official tally, but I’m willing to bet no one has more wins than Tommy Campbell and Grumpy Van Gunten on that track, especially here in the Valley.

While it was bitter sweet to see it go, I’m happy it will be taken care of well in the new owners basement with his family and friends.

A special thanks to William and his family, Thomas, Curtis and my dad for loading it up one last time. The new owner has already taken it out and is excited to have it up in the coming months.

From Lynn, my dad and I who owned that track at different times, we are thankful to everyone who raced on it. I personally will always be thankful for all the good times on it.
