Biking, hiking, Farmers Market, and rodeo season are in full swing! Here's what you need to know before heading out:

Trails & Recreation�
• Emerald Mountain: OPEN and covered in wildflowers...and bears! Be alert! 🐻
�• Fish Creek Falls: OPEN�
• Mt. Werner Trails: Pioneer has been cleared, Zig Zag has been rerouted, Right-O-Way is closed for construction, and the Bike Park is OPEN.
�• Mad Creek, Red Dirt & Spring Creek: OPEN. Please note there is a $5 parking fee at the Mad Creek and Spring Creek trailheads.
�• Seedhouse Road: OPEN. No campfires permitted. Arrive early if you're heading to the Slavonia Trailhead, as parking fills quickly.�
• Sand Mountain, Farwell & the Zirkel Wilderness: OPEN with wildflowers at higher elevations, lingering snow patches, and flowing creeks.�
• FS 500 (Big Red Park): OPEN for exploration all the way to the Wyoming border and beyond.�
• Rabbit Ears/Divide: Forest closure remains in effect due to firefighting operations. The Routt National Forest north of Highway 40 is closed to the county line.�
• Buffalo Pass: OPEN. Parking at Dry Lake is $5 per vehicle.

Water Conditions�
• Yampa River: CLOSED to all recreational use. Please give the fish a break. Current conditions: 68°F | 82 cfs.�
• Elk River: Clear and dropping at 79 cfs.�
• Stagecoach State Park: Fish to Fork event this Saturday from 11 AM–2 PM. The lake is fully OPEN.
�• Steamboat Lake State Park & Pearl Lake: OPEN. Trails are dry, lakes are clear, and the marina and swim beach are OPEN.

Worth the Stop�• Columbine General Store is open Thursday–Saturday and serving ice cream!

Current Restrictions�
• Stage 2 Fire Restrictions: No open fires, no smoking in the forest, and spark arrestors are required.�
• Stage 2 Drought Conditions: Please avoid washing vehicles at home, running decorative water features, washing driveways, and other unnecessary water use.�
• Bear-resistant containers are REQUIRED at developed campsites throughout the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest.

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the wildfires affecting Routt County & our surrounding communities.

Latest update on the Fishhook Fire via Regional Captain Adam Johnson:
• Fire growth occurred overnight and additional growth is anticipated today.
• Smoke should be expected throughout surrounding areas.
• An Incident Management Team has been ordered.
• Both aerial and ground firefighting resources are actively engaged today.
• A U.S. Forest Service area closure is being developed and is expected soon.
• Highway 40 remains open.
• Additional firefighting resources are en route.

If you're recreating, please respect all trail, road, and forest closures. Rely on official sources for the latest information. We're grateful for the front line working to protect our community. Our team is standing by with alternate fire-safe trail recommendations, maps + anything you might need 🧡
