“I should have just come to you to build it first.”

We weren’t going to say it…but since the customer did. 🤣

This leaning post wasn’t built by That Welder Guy—it was brought to us because the uneven legs caused it to wobble, and the original footrest was positioned too low to be practical.

We fabricated two new mounting pads to get it sitting properly and added another crossbar to create a footrest the customer can actually use.

This wasn’t a complete rebuild or one of our original creations—just That Welder Guy making what was already there more stable, functional, and ready to get back on the boat.

Sometimes you build it from scratch. Sometimes you’re the guy called to make it right. 💪🏼⚓️

They call it Labor Day…but apparently nobody told That Welder Guy it was supposed to be a day off. 🤣

The shop has been open and the welder has been laboring, because boats don’t fix themselves and the work keeps calling!

Today, we’re thankful for everyone whose hard work keeps this country moving—and especially for every customer who trusts this small business to keep their projects moving.

Happy Labor Day from That Welder Guy! 🇺🇸⚓️

Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife Gin Hunnings! ❤️

I went digging through some old pictures today and quickly realized two things… we’ve been doing this life together for a LONG time, and apparently neither one of us was very concerned about picture quality back then. 😂

But I wouldn’t trade these pictures — or the memories behind them — for anything.

We’ve raised a family, worked hard, laughed a lot, probably argued a time or two 😏, spent countless days around the water, made some incredible memories and built a pretty damn good life together.

Through all the different seasons of our lives, she’s been right there beside me. My wife, my best friend, the one who keeps our family together, puts up with all my crazy ideas and has supported me through more than I could ever fit into a Facebook post.

Looking back at the young woman in these pictures and looking at the woman beside me today, I can say I’d choose her all over again. ❤️

Happy Birthday, babe! I love you and I hope you know just how much you mean to me, our family, and everyone lucky enough to have you in their life.

And yes… I included the welding hood picture. You married That Welder Guy. You had to know it was coming. 🤣🤣❤️

🌙🎣 Long Weekend Kickoff

Some nights are for welding.
Some nights are for fishing.
Tonight, we’re doing a little of both… just without the welding. 😂🎣

Not every custom project has to be big and glamorous…sometimes it just has to be exactly right for the job. 👌

This customer has a small space on his pontoon boat that he’s turning into a food truck. Space is limited, but after spending time on his feet, he wanted somewhere he could lean back and take a break without taking up valuable room.

So That Welder Guy built him a small custom leaning post designed specifically for his space and his needs.

Nothing oversized. Nothing unnecessary. Just a custom piece built to fit, built to work, and built to get the job done. 💪

That’s the thing about custom fabrication…sometimes the smallest projects make the biggest difference.

If you can dream it up and need it built, let’s talk. 🔥thanks to my model Caity Hunnings

Some jobs aren’t about making something look flashy…they’re about making something safer and more functional for the people who depend on it.

This vessel is built to handle some seriously difficult conditions on the water, but the existing safety rails were only about 22 inches off the deck. In rough seas, that meant the crew often had to bend down to grab a rail—definitely not ideal when the boat is moving and conditions get rough.

So That Welder Guy got the call. 💪

The job was to extend the existing rail system, giving the crew a much higher and more secure handhold while still maintaining the room they need to maneuver important equipment—including the fire hose and other gear around the vessel.

Every job has its own challenges, and this one was all about finding the right balance between safety, functionality, strength, and working around the equipment already in place.

That’s what custom fabrication is all about. Sometimes there isn’t something you can pull off a shelf—you need someone who can look at the problem and build the solution.

And yes…you might notice a little difference between the existing welds and the new ones…

But we aren’t judging! 😂😂

This weekend, we traveled to the mountains of Virginia to celebrate the life of one of the most special people we have ever known.

She started as a friend…but somewhere along the way, she became family.

For years, we all lived side by side on the Loop, and those years gave us more memories than I could ever put into one Facebook post. Family paint nights, cookouts, fishing trips, sandbar days, long conversations in the garage, and countless moments in between that probably didn’t seem important at the time—but now mean absolutely everything.

She was truly the heart of our Loop Family. She had a way of making life fun, bringing people together, and reminding everyone around her what really mattered. Family was always her priority. Always.

I learned so much through the years—not only from her, but from Tony as well—about being a better husband, father, friend, and family man. The kind of friendship we all shared is something that doesn’t come along often in life, and we will forever be grateful that ours did.

This weekend, being surrounded by our extended family—the people we met and grew close to through her—was a beautiful reminder of just how many lives she touched and how much love she brought into this world.

And I can’t leave this out…she was always one of That Welder Guy’s biggest fans and supporters. She believed in me, cheered me on, and was always proud of what I was building. That kind of support from someone you love means more than they will ever know.

She was one of a kind. She was family. She was the best.

And she is going to be truly, deeply missed.

❤️ Until we see you again, our dear friend. Thank you for all the laughs, all the memories, and for being such an important part of our lives. The Loop will never be the same without you…but the memories we made there will live with us forever.

THIS is why I love what I do.

This Sea Hawk came into the shop ready for some metal — and the customer had a vision for exactly how he wanted to set it up for his fishing charters.

He wanted to maximize the space without making the boat feel crowded.

So we built it around his needs:

🔹 Custom T-Top with an upper station
🔹 Custom backrest built around his existing leaning post
🔹 Custom transom rod rack
🔹 Plenty of room for rods and gear
🔹 Everything kept open and functional so there’s still plenty of room to move around while fishing

The goal wasn’t just to add metal to the boat. It was to build something that made sense for how he actually uses it.

And when the finished boat came back together, that smile and handshake said it all. He told me the finished product exceeded what he had in his head when he first walked through the door.

That’s the part that means the most.

Every boat is different. Every customer has a different idea of what they want. And that’s where custom fabrication comes in.

You dream it. I’ll build it.

If you’ve got a boat that needs something custom, send me a message. Let’s see what we can come up with.

A rebuilt boat deserves a custom setup. ⚓

This Sea Hawk came into the shop for a custom-built T-top with an upper station.

Then we added a custom backrest to the leaning post and an additional transom rack to make the setup even more functional.

No off-the-shelf package here. Everything was built around this boat and the owner’s needs.

That’s what we love about custom fabrication—you bring us the boat, the ideas and the things you wish it had, and we’ll figure out how to build it.

Got an older boat you’re bringing back to life? Or an idea you’ve been wanting to add?

Give us a call. Let’s build it.
