Summer, please stay a little longer! Yes, we are open today on Labor Day. The bookstore is open until after Thanksgiving weekend, so still plenty of time to revisit or visit for the first time! Thank you to those who supported us and our vendors this weekend. Next Saturday, we celebrate the store’s 11th anniversary and Orson the Bookstore’s 16th birthday- hope to see you there! 📚🧁😻 Open Fri-Mon 10am-6pm
1. Regulars Kara & Savannah have hearts of gold and we have a special place in our hearts for them - they visit often to restock local free libraries and give out books to the food pantry they volunteer at weekly. Thank you K & S for making the world a better place!💗
2. Averill Park’s Kathy & Alan are also two superstars of kindness and are always generous with donations📚
3. First time visitors Renee Nicole & Shaile Cohen-Sanchez work with hard of hearing clients and in their spare time, they love to read!😻
4. Wynantskill’s shopped for vinyl from larkstreetrecords ‘ large collection here🎵
5. Averill Park’s Kristian returned home for the weekend from teaching in the Bronx and brought friend Lauren from Clifton Park to the store for the first time 📖
6. Vic Scapperotti & Jitty are visiting Stephentown for a bachelor/bachelorette party and googled things to do in Stephentown and ended up here!🔎
7. First timers from Boston Alison Schaefer & Daniel got some retail therapy in while visiting parents in the area
8. Meagan Chapman is new to the neighborhood - welcome! - and on this visit brought friend Erin Morris who is visiting from Buffalo 🦬

Three cheers for the long weekend! Yes, we are open Monday and every Monday through September 🙌 Black River Farm is back this weekend with fresh bread & muffins - the Uzbek bread sold out twice last weekend so get here early! - produce & flowers. Next week, Sat. Sept.12 we will be hosting ORSONFEST to celebrate Orson the Bookstore Cat’s 16th birthday and the bookstore’s 11th birthday. FREE hot dogs & drinks from Black River Farm, a pop up bakery from Cluckleberry Hill Farm and new limited edition Orson the Bookstore Cat tshirts from Lowell Donofrio on 9/12😻🙌

It’s been a rough summer for Orson the Bookstore - leg amputation & ongoing chemotherapy and yet he still shows up to work…okay maybe 60% of the time. Next Saturday (9/12) we are celebrating the store’s 11th birthday and most importantly Orson’s 16th birthday! Black River Farm stand will be grilling FREE hot dogs and giving out free drinks; Cluckleberry Hill Farm will have a pop up bakery of birthday treats; AND we will have a limited restock of Orson the Bookstore Cat tshirts from Lowell Donofrio . Gather your friends, hang out and stay awhile….no guarantee the birthday boy will make an appearance but fingers, eyes and ankles crossed 😻📚

I love my job! It is so much fun & such a pleasure to connect with my community & bookworms from all over. Next month, we will be celebrating 11 years in business & we have some plans in the work! Thank you for supporting my bookstore dream 💗Here is whom we had the pleasure of spending time with this weekend. We are open Fri-Mon 10am-6pm.📚
1. Amanda Kernahan from Fairport is finishing her memoir on hiking the Adirondacks’ 46 - congrats Amanda! She visited for the first time with friend Ericka from Sand Lake🥾
2. L.J Bristol is an incredible animator & storyteller - he is working on a stop animation college program - we need stop animation books for his class so reach out to me if you have any! 📚
3. Former Stephentown residents Nick and his kids Chris & Natalie returned for a visit & some shopping! Can’t believe how much older Chris & Natalie have gotten - luckily I have remained the same age 🙃
4. Schenectady’s Jordan Thomas & Bree Smentkowski stopped by after spending the weekend at Jiminy Peak, where they did the scariest ride in the region - the Soaring Eagle 🤢
5. Juliana & from Long Island love visiting this area & are making the move to Brunswick so we look forward to seeing them more often! 🙌
6. Ladies who Literature! Ginger, Dana & Denise livened up the store on their girls day adventure🥰
7. Bryan supports local poets! He picked up a book from poet Rebecca Schumejda 👏
8. Braveheart regular Gabi’s friend visited for the first time and bought a journal made by 📖
9. Albany’s Ben & Keren Rubin told us we have the coolest store ever - and we agree, it’s even cooler in November & December🥶
10. & Jennifer Ann from Scotia brought the energy & good vibes to the store this week & enjoyed hanging out at the picnic tables with their fresh muffins from the farm stand & free coffee from the porch ☕️

Howdy bookworms, the bookstore & bazaar are now open for the weekend through Monday woot woot 🙌 Here’s a look at new arrivals to the bookshelves AND vinyl crates courtesy of larkstreetrecords . DM to reserve for pick up! Saturdays & Sundays, we host Black River Farm in the parking lot so pick up your fresh muffins, bread, produce & bouquets - help yourself to a complimentary tea, coffee or bottles water from the porch and stay awhile! We are open Mondays 🙌📚The bookstore was bustling this weekend - so many new faces! Thank you for keeping my and Orson the Bookstore Cat’s dream alive :) We hope you are enjoying the weekend farm stand and the complimentary coffee, tea and water - thanks Renie for keeping the pantry well stocked! Here’s a snapshot of the bookworms we had the pleasure of getting to know this weekend :)😻🙏
1. and cool mum Lauren from Wales, MA cleaned out our Game of Thrones and Anne Rice sections!
2. Meet Marie! Marie makes the quilted cats, the quilts and feed bag tote bags. She picked up a book by Rich Sheffield, my best friend Katie’s dad! 📚
3. Record lovers Joe & Anna from Poestenkill found some great tunes from larkstreetrecords 🎸
4. Brendon & Lisa Jiang from MA were looking at houses in Stephentown and wanted to check out other local landmarks! We hope to see you again, neighbors (?)!
5. WildLupineLady & Will Foley from Saratoga were exploring the area for books and they hit the jackpot!
6. Will from Nassau usually can’t get here before closing time but he made it in this weekend and vows to be back!
7. Hallowe’en superfan Kara introduced us to her friend Darcie - if you bring in a new friend, you get a free book ticket! 🎃
8. Bonnie Dingman & Benjamin from Williamstown did some mother/son bonding over shopping for books & records!🛍️
9. Tom is a friend from my winter job and it was a lovely surprise to catch up with him and meet his wife Sue! Thanks for visiting Tom & Sue 💗
