Every stem has a story. 🌸

These are some of the blooms growing here in August through early fall and finding their way into the weddings I design this season.

There’s something incredibly special about watching a flower go from seed… to bloom… to becoming part of one of the most meaningful days in someone’s life.

That’s why I love growing many of the flowers I design with. They bring a sense of seasonality, movement, and intention that simply can’t be replicated.

Today I made 50+ wrapped bouquets for our farm stand this am and for tomorrow. There’s more in the cooler too. You can find our flowers at our farm stand and at the Voluntown Farmers Market from 9:30-12:30pm.

One of my favorite parts of freelancing is getting a front-row seat to incredible creative minds.

This ceremony arch was designed by my mentor and friend, Tammie LaBonte | BLOOM. Creative Floral and I’m so thankful I got to help bring it to life. Every installation teaches me something new, and I’m grateful for opportunities like this. Also, so happy to work alongside Nicole Montagano and emily✨🎱❤️‍🔥📸⚡️ meeting new designers and friends in this industry is gold!

Friday’s farm stand flowers are wrapped and ready for 9am tomorrow. I do have a limited amount tomorrow as I have been away from the farm freelancing for a wedding tomorrow. I met some great new designers this week! Every bouquet features rose lily’s and sunflowers with the first of the dahlias and lisianthus. Come early as I won’t be home to restock until Saturday!

Dahlias aren’t hard to grow but they do require lots of care if you want the perfect blooms like I do, because I use these in our late summer and fall weddings. The organza bags provide some protection from the insects that like to feed on the dahlias. Most of them are very small and hard to see. The damage is sometimes not seen until it’s too late so I bag as many unopened buds as I can. Once I cut the bloom, I remove the bag and place it on another bud and the cycle continues until the end of the season when I let everything bloom just as it is for me. Ever wonder why flowers are so expensive? This is why, the labor that goes into growing them behind the scenes is extensive when growing on a larger scale than just a hobby garden.

And there’s more in the cooler! You can find us under the maple trees at the Voluntown Elementary School tomorrow from 9:30-12:30pm at the farmers market. We will also have some bouquets in our farm stand at 9am! Last week we sold out by 10:45am, so come early and enjoy all the vendors! The first couple of dahlias have made their way into this weeks bouquets and a new bright pink double rose lily 👌

Thank you to the lovely group of ladies that came to my flower arrangement workshop at Harmony Acres Farm today. We had the perfect weather and an awesome host! Thank you Amanda for having me. It was a great morning surrounded by the farm animals and gorgeous setting!
