Meet Mr. Raspberry! Also known as Norm Asbury. 💛 This week’s 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗸 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 recognition!

Norm is part of the team at Franklin Elementary, and according to the person who nominated him, he’s basically one of those people who keeps the whole place moving behind the scenes.

Here’s what they wrote:

“He is the backbone of our building and does a fine job of making sure everyone has what they need to make our school run. He’s always willing to help and he cleans up some of the grossest things with a smile! My Kinders love ‘Mr. Raspberry’!”

Honestly, “Mr. Raspberry” might be my favorite part. 😂💛💙

This is exactly why we wanted Sauk Valley Sees You to include everybody. The people cleaning up messes, fixing problems, helping staff, making kids smile, and doing a hundred little things most people never see.

𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗸 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺. And apparently, so do a whole bunch of Kinders who know you by a much better name! 😂

❤️🤍💙Labor Day weekend reminder ❤️🤍💙

We’re here until 12p.m. today, then we’re giving our little flower family a much-deserved long weekend. We’ll be closed Monday and back to flowers, plants and everyday chaos Tuesday morning. 💐🥰

Sauk Valley Sees You. 💛

Lundstrom Florist and I dreamed this one up together.

Every Friday, we’ll surprise one Sterling school employee at work with a Sophie’s gift card, a treat, and flowers or a plant from Lundstrom. We’ll also read aloud the reason someone nominated them because people deserve to hear the good they bring into the world.

When we talk about recognizing educators, it’s easy to picture only the classroom. But schools are held together by so many people.
The person driving your child to school before sunrise.
The person who notices which kids arrive hungry on Monday.
The person cleaning up after a stomach bug at 2:00 and greeting students with a smile at 2:15.
The person at the front desk who knows every family by name.

They all count.

Teachers, aides, paras, substitutes, office staff, custodians, bus drivers, cafeteria crews, coaches, nurses, and every person who helps care for our kids.

Anyone can submit a nomination: students, parents, coworkers, or principals. It takes about a minute, and you can remain anonymous.
Nominate the person who just popped into your head. That’s usually the right one.

He drives a bus for First Student and has been doing it for a little over three years. Today, we climbed on his bus to surprise him with flowers from Lundstrom Florist, a treat, and a Sophie’s gift card because one of his riders nominated him!

Here’s what that student wrote about him:

“He’s kind and caring. He makes sure we’re safe but still lets us have fun on the bus.”

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗸 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂.
