💚 A Glowing Piece of Glassmaking History 💚

This beautiful vintage uranium-glass rose bowl features a rounded body and a dramatically ruffled rim. Rose bowls were designed to hold short-stemmed flowers, with the narrowed opening helping support the blooms and create a full arrangement.

The brilliant green glow appears when the glass is placed under ultraviolet or black light. This fluorescence comes from a small amount of uranium compound added to the glass mixture as a coloring agent. Uranium glass was especially popular from the late 1800s through the early 1900s and is now highly collectible.
