Friday Sept. 11th we are Open 11a-8p

Arts Walk is a free annual event that gives artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their work in downtown Stevens Point while connecting with the community and supporting local businesses. The event takes place three times this year: June 5, July 24, and September 11, from 5–8 PM.

Artists interested in participating must sign up through the Riverfront Arts Center by emailing [email protected] and noting their preferred booth location as soon as possible. Available setup spaces include the RAC lawn, sidewalk and the sidewalks of downtown Stevens Point.

Each artist is responsible for their own setup and takedown, as well as obtaining verbal permission from the downtown business if they plan to set up on the sidewalk in front of that location.

At first glance, this colorful gem might look like a piece of modern art. In reality, it's thomsonite—a rare member of the zeolite mineral group known for its striking concentric patterns and radiating crystal structures.

Many of the finest examples come from the shores of Lake Superior, where rounded nodules are shaped by nature and later polished to reveal their distinctive "eye-like" patterns. The mineral's intricate bands and bursts of color have made it a favorite among collectors and lapidary enthusiasts.

Named after Scottish chemist and mineralogist Thomas Thomson, thomsonite is a reminder that some of nature's most fascinating treasures aren't always the most famous gemstones.
