MOP Leech Story...

Looking for a bigger and more lifelike leech pattern it came to mind using MOP Chenille. I wanted a bigger leech pattern with more movement than standard leech yarns, marabou etc. along with size. I began testing it on largemouth in the very early spring with great surprise on not just catching fish but the size difference. The bass were much larger.

I tested in again 5 more times both spring and later fall with similar results. I then decided to head to a lake for rainbows (later fall) where leech patterns work well. The first day and a half I used standard style leeches and caught fish but nothing of any size.

I then switched to the MOP Leech (1/0, 4in. long, black with Black Super Kraken Head , heavy cone head) in deeper, mid depth and shallow water with great results. The fish attacked the fly with vigor and when fishing shallow water ( only a few feet deep) I had to strip the fly as fast as I can just to keep the Mop Leech from hitting bottom and the rainbows would attack the fly with extreme prejudice! I did this for 2 more days with the same results.

ALL the fish were 18" to 23" plus. I will be heading back this fall testing different colors of MOP and also MP Chenilles. This is my MOP Leech story and I hope you give it a try. I am working on a MOP Leech tying video. Thanks

If you watch real leeches that my appear to be small resting become quite long when swimming and move up and down, On occasion they turn side ways and undulate side to side. I observed a few hundred leeches one summer and after watching I decided on a long and large leech with movement...MOP Leech and it has produced.

It has been over a year since I have posted anything here. I will do better as the tying season approaches. We have added some new products such as MP Chenille, Fuzzy Yarn, NEW MS 100 style hooks, SB Hair (Synthetic Bucktail) and other materials with more on the horizon. Below is a NEW MS Bu**er Dubbing that we are in experimental stages. It is a sparkle dubbing with short fibers of Arctic Snow and various Starburst dyed fibers with various colors of long legs (just like in the regular MS Dubbing).

I am offering 2 FREE packs of 'MS Sparkle Dubbing' with every $25 purchase.

(Northern Lights Tail - Olive Brown MS Sparkle Bu**er - Gold Bead)

As always input is very welcome. Thanks
