In a few weeks, it’ll be 20 years since I first started jujutsu. This was never part of the plan. I was having a b**r after a pick up hockey game when a friend invited me to take a. “ ground fighting class.” he was being called to active duty to be deployed to Iraq and he wanted to get in shape. I went to the class and I essentially never left. The one thing I would say to someone starting jujutsu, especially someone who’s starting it later in life… We admire talent, but we respect effort. Keep showing up. It’s a simple as that.

We are finally coming up for air after event last Saturday and wanted to take a moment to do a proper thank you. Thank you to our participants, who agreed to show up, despite the weather reports. Thank you to everyone else who showed up and asked questions, made connections. The event exceeded my expectations. Community is important. In a world of instant 128-character answers from the phone in our back pocket, it's nice to look someone in the eye, laugh with them, and maybe try a bite of grass-fed beef heart slow cooked for 14 hours. (It was FANTASTIC BTW, I had a 7-year-old have 4 servings, it made my day) Stay tuned for our next event. We have a couple in the works. THANK YOU!!!!!

Speaking from personal experience Dave generously spent a few minutes with my 17-year-old discussing his conditioning and diet prior to his wrestling season. His advice was thoughtful and concise.
