So this is a post I didn't think I'd be writing today. 34 years ago, I opened a small shop on Monroe Street in Madison. At that time, most of my merchandise was handmade, and I supplemented with some manufactured pieces. I grew into a large space in Sun Prairie selling mostly manufactured goods and a few handmade items mixed in. Then I found myself in Stoughton, again featuring mostly handmade items, enjoying creating unique woolen items and patterns. Now, after 3 cities and 7 storefronts, I am sad to say A Day in the Country is closing its doors.

I'm not sure what my next step will be as this came up suddenly (landlord related, NOT health). I will still be doing shows and I will still be creating, beyond that I'm not sure what the future holds. I want to let everyone know how much I appreciate all of your support over the years and the friendships that have formed. Stay tuned to Facebook and my website and I will keep everyone informed on what is next for me - when I know what that is. I know this came up suddenly, and I'm still processing it myself, but I believe this is for the best and something even better will come along.

I’m still mostly closed but I don’t want to miss seeing everyone at the art walk in Stoughton on Saturday September 30. The art walk runs from 9-4, but I’m not sure how long I’ll make it.

I am also available by appointment if you need something before I resume my normal hours.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will finally be getting my new knee! Surgery has been scheduled for next Tuesday, so we will be closed the week of September 4 and September 11. I hope to be back after that, but I will post updates here.

I just wanted to let everyone know I will be closed Friday and Saturday this week (Feb. 10 & 11). I will be getting ready for the Winter Quilt Show in West Bend, WI this Saturday (9-4). The vendor slots are all filled and there are many fantastic free stage lectures throughout the day. Hope to see you there!

Someone was kind enough to drop of some wool for me while I was away. I have no idea who it was and I really want to thank them for thinking of me! If you are the one and see this, please know I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. The wools are beautiful! A big heartfelt thanks!

The shop will be closed this week, October 28, 29 and 30 as I will be a vendor at the Marshfield Quilt Show in Marshfield, WI. Set-up is tomorrow (Thursday) and the show is Friday and Saturday, I apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you soon
