Some childhood memories remain just below the surface until someone dusts them off with a simple reminder.
When we first walked through the Strasburg Creamery last spring with our team, the old shop was quiet. Floor boards creaked as we surveyed the space, deep in thought. This space had held many a happy customer, eager to partake in the creamery’s offerings. Now it sat empty, yet anxious to be filled again.
Suddenly someone remarked, “Remember the honeybees?”
Instantly I recalled standing in front of the observation hive at the creamery as a young girl, transfixed by the industrious little creatures and filled with wonder as I studied their workmanship. I smiled faintly, looking at the now empty space that once hummed with their delicious productivity. Of course I remembered them! How could I have forgotten?
“We have to bring them back!” the team concluded.
With the assistance of local beekeeper, Glenn Long, we’ve done just that! We’re so appreciative of his hard work in helping to build the observation hive (now visible from both the creamery and the general store), and his dedication to maintaining a happy and healthy colony at Strasburg Creamery and General Store.
To celebrate the return of the honeybees to the creamery, we’re adding an additional flavor to our menu. Introducing…
🍯🥜 🐝Peanut Butter Honeycomb
This honorary scoop features rich peanut butter ice cream swirled with crunchy pieces of caramelized honeycomb candy and golden ribbons of decadent honey.
Sweet and salty, smooth and crunchy: these are classic pairings for a reason. They’re truly satisfying and perfectly combined in our newest offering, resulting in a flavor that is naturally crave-able and (we have to say it) the bees knees!
Come say hello to our favorite resident pollinators and enjoy a delightful scoop of Peanut Butter Honeycomb atop a fresh waffle cone. We’ll be serving it starting Friday!
