My heart belongs to North American native carnivorous plants. I'm working on being able to offer a small selection in the spring of 2027 and I hope to be able to grow those selections over time (pun definitely intended). This post has some great carnivorous plant basics to keep in mind. These guys are easier than they look.

This gorgeous monstera jungle mint that has caused me such stress since June is finally getting comfortable enough to put out a new leaf! It looks like the new leaf may have some good variegation but I’m guessing largely by the leaf stem. Can’t wait to see what we get.

Coming soon to Knoxville!

So excited to finally announce our new project for lovers of books, film, music, and more—McBroom’s Closet! We are a worker-owned, democratically run cooperative with years of bookstore experience under our belts. Access to affordable, secondhand physical media is important to us. While digital streaming platforms continue to hike subscription fees, people increasingly value ownership of the arts they love. We want to provide a local hub for buying or selling anything from vinyl records to electric guitars, blu-rays to camera equipment. And if you have a closet full of gadgets you no longer treasure or a shelf full of books you know you’ll never read again, we’ll be glad to accept them for trade value toward other items!

Before we’re able to secure a store location, however, we need to ask for your support. Please share our story to let your friends and folks know about us! Drop us a follow on our socials to stay up to date with our progress.

Scindapsus and philodendron headeraceum are often lumped together with pothos (epipremnum). All three of these species are popular in hanging baskets but they also like to climb and will do well with a trellis or moss pole. All like bright light but dislike direct sun. And there’s multiple varieties of each.

Oddly Green has several classic varieties of these popular pretties ready for sale and we’ll have them available at the College Square Mall in Morristown September 12. Check out events for details or message us.

It’s so hotttttttt. I don’t have the tolerance needed to spend a lot of time in the greenhouse in this heat.

I snapped some pictures of this favorite while I was watering yesterday. Cissus discolor has such beautiful purple on the underside of its leaves. I read somewhere that it’s dramatic but I haven’t seen it. In my experience, it just wants attention. It grabs anything and climbs everywhere. And the new leaves are so colorful that you can’t help but stare.

Seriously, not a rare plant, but still an absolute favorite.
