We just lost a Marvel legend today 😔

Acclaimed comic book artist Joshua Cassara has passed away at just 46, leaving behind a body of work that helped shape some of Marvel’s most memorable modern stories.

Cassara became especially known for X-Force, where his gritty, detailed artwork helped define the darker side of the X-Men’s Krakoa era. His work also appeared across X-Men, X Lives of Wolverine, Deadpool/Wolverine, Venom, Falcon, Sentry, and many more Marvel titles.

His talent earned him a place among Marvel’s inaugural Stormbreakers, recognizing him as one of the company’s standout artists. But beyond the comics, Marvel remembered Cassara as a beloved friend and collaborator whose kindness matched the energy and emotion he brought to every page.

Rest in peace, Joshua Cassara. Marvel has lost a remarkable artist, but the worlds and characters he helped bring to life will carry his legacy forward. 🕊️

We say goodbye to another TV and Sci-fi legend today 😔🕊️

James Sloyan spent six decades proving that the best character actors don’t need to be the biggest name on the poster to make a scene unforgettable. 🕊

Across six decades, Sloyan moved effortlessly between film, television and voice work, becoming especially beloved by Star Trek fans for playing four completely different characters across three series. He could be an admiral, scientist, Klingon, doctor or supporting character and make every one feel completely distinct.

Some of his most memorable roles included:
Admiral Alidar Jarok — Star Trek: The Next Generation
Dr. Mora Pol — Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Dr. Ma’Bor Jetrel — Star Trek: Voyager
K’mtar / Future Alexander Rozhenko — Star Trek: The Next Generation
Mottola — The Sting
Dr. Frank Nollette — The X-Files
Avery Baltus — Party of Five
Superintendent Hazen — Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman
Theodore Moody — Quantum Leap
Simpson — Xanadu
Barnard “Barney” Smith — Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
George Fraley — MacGyver
The Interrogator — Crime & Punishment — voice

James Sloyan rarely needed to be the star. He was the kind of performer who made you remember the episode anyway. Rest in peace 🕊️❤️

Happy 79th birthday to Stephen Edwin King (born September 21, 1947). He is an American author. Dubbed the "King of Horror", he is widely known for his horror fiction and has also explored other genres, among them suspense, crime, science-fiction, fantasy, and mystery. He has written approximately 200 short stories, most of which have been published in collections

His debut, Carrie (1974), established him in horror, and Different Seasons (1982), a collection of four novellas, was his first major departure from the genre. Among the films adapted from King's fiction are Carrie (1976), The Shining (1980), The Dead Zone (1983), Stand by Me (1986), Misery (1990), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Dolores Claiborne (1995), The Green Mile (1999), It (2017), The Life of Chuck (2024) and The Long Walk (2025). He has published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman and has co-written works with other authors, notably his friend Peter Straub and sons Joe Hill and Owen King. He has also written nonfiction, notably Danse Macabre (1981) and On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft (2000).

Among other awards, King has won the O. Henry Award for "The Man in the Black Suit" (1994) and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Mystery/Thriller for 11/22/63 (2011). He has also won honors for his overall contributions to literature, including the 2003 Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, the 2007 Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America[7] and the 2014 National Medal of Arts.[8] Joyce Carol Oates called King "a brilliantly rooted, psychologically 'realistic' writer for whom the American scene has been a continuous source of inspiration, and American popular culture a vast cornucopia of possibilities."

Happy 79th birthday to the legendary Stephen King, born September 21, 1947, and still one of the most influential horror writers in history.

King broke through with CARRIE in 1974 before creating classics like THE SHINING, IT, MISERY, PET SEMATARY and THE STAND, building a body of work that has shaped horror across books, movies and television for more than five decades.

His stories have sold hundreds of millions of copies worldwide, while characters like Pennywise, Jack Torrance and Annie Wilkes have become permanent pieces of pop culture far beyond the novels they came from.

79 years old and still basically synonymous with horror. Happy birthday to the King.

We lost another sci-fi and horror legend today 😔🕊️

Gerrit Graham, the wonderfully eccentric actor remembered by generations of horror, comedy, animation, and Star Trek fans, has passed away.

For cult-film fans, he will forever be Beef, the wildly theatrical glam rocker from Brian De Palma’s Phantom of the Paradise. But Graham was the kind of character actor who could suddenly appear almost anywhere, from playing Phil Simpson, Andy Barclay’s foster father in Child’s Play 2, to the wonderfully sleazy Jeff in Used Cars and the bizarre title character of C.H.U.D. II: Bud the C.H.U.D.

His memorable roles included:
• Beef — Phantom of the Paradise
• Phil Simpson — Child’s Play 2
• Jeff — Used Cars
• Bud Oliver / Bud the C.H.U.D. — C.H.U.D. II: Bud the C.H.U.D.
• Quinn — Star Trek: Voyager
• Franklin Sherman — The Critic
• Cat R. Waul — Fievel’s American Tails
• The Hunter — Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
• Stanley Putterman — TerrorVision
• Guardian — Gargoyles
• Roger Bender — Now and Again
• Lloyd Clay — Greetings

Graham’s creativity also extended behind the camera and microphone. He wrote episodes of The Twilight Zone, contributed additional dialogue and voices to Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and co-wrote “Victim or the Crime” with Bob Weir, which was recorded by the Grateful Dead.

Rest in paradise, Gerrit Graham 🕯️

Happy 77th Birthday, Wile E. Coyote!!!

This Day In Hollywood History Sept 17 1949 - Wile E. Coyote, Warner Bros. cartoon character created by Chuck Jones (Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series), first debuts in "Fast and Furry-ous"

Fast and Furry-ous is a 1949 Warner Bros. Looney Tunes cartoon, directed by Chuck Jones and written by Michael Maltese. The short was released on September 17, 1949, and stars Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, in their debut.
This was the debut of the Coyote/Road Runner pairing and set the template for the series, in which Wile E. Coyote (here given the mock genus/species name in faux-Latin Carnivorous Vulgaris) tries to catch the Road Runner (Accelleratii Incredibus) through many traps, plans and products. In this first cartoon, not all of the products are yet made by ACME.
