“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. … Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bo***ge.” Heb.2:9, 14-15

Some encouraging scriptures when looking at the concept of love.

1Jn.4:7-10 "Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God IS LOVE. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein IS LOVE, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins."
a) God is Love
b) Herein is Love...that He loved us

This love is described in Rom.5
"But God commendeth His LOVE toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Rom.5:8

*See first picture*

1Jn.5:3 "For this IS the LOVE of God, that we Keep His Commandments: and His commandments are not burdensome."
2Jn.vs6 "And this IS LOVE, that we walk after His commandments. This is the commandment, that, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it."
- Jn.14:15 "If ye LOVE Me, keep my commandments" (Jesus speaking)

His commandments:

- Rom.13:8-10 "Owe no man any thing, but to Love one another; for he that Loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Love worketh no ill to its neighbor; therefore, Love is the fulfilling of the law."

- Gal.5:13-14 "For brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not the liberty for an occasion of the flesh, but by Love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: Thou shalt Love thy neighbor as thyself."

a) Love is Loving Him in keeping His Commandments.

*see second picture*

1Jn.3:17 "But whosoever hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his compassions from him, how Dwelleth the LOVE OF GOD in him?"

Rom.5:5 "And hope maketh not ashamed, because the LOVE OF GOD is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given unto us."

*see third picture*

1Jn.3:17-18 "But whosoever hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his compassions from him, how dwelleth the Love of God in him? My little children, let us not LOVE in word, neither in tongue, but in DEED and in TRUTH."
- Love is an action in the truth and reality of His Word (Jn.17:17)

Eph.5:2 "And walk in LOVE, AS CHRIST ALSO HATH LOVED US, and hath GIVEN HIMSELF FOR US an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor."
- our love is to be AS God's love for us

1Jn.5:2 "By this shall we know that we Love the children of God, when we Love God, and keep His commandments."
- keeping His commandments is to Love one another

2Cor.5:14-15 "For the Love of Christ constraineth us, because we thus judge that, if one died for all, then were all dead; and that He died for all , that they who live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him who died for them, and rose again."

- His Love, the same love that dwells in us, constrains us to live for Him - to love one another.

His Love for us and our Love for Him enables us to Love one another.

*see fourth picture*

Then there is, of course the love between a man and a woman, which we tend to call "romance", which is defined in Eph.5 as it is designed to serve as a special picture of Christ and the Church.

Eph.5:30-32 "For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the Church."

Today is Valentines day as we celebrate a thing called "Love" And while the secular world emphasizes on many other things, especially in regards to romance, I like taking this time to celebrate "Love" in regards to eternal things.

As I review what Love is, I find it a good thing to celebrate as Love, in every aspect (in which romance is apart), points to Christ's Love for us in His Gospel. When we celebrate Love, in reality we are essentially celebrating the Gospel.

When the Children of Israel crossed the river of Jordan, they set 12 stones so that when their children asked of it, they would tell them of what the Lord did. (Joshua) And when the children of Israel had the first passover and the Lord redeemed Israel from the bo***ge of Egypt, they kept the passover every year in memory of what the Lord did as well as teaching it to their children when they asked of it. (Exodus)

For me, I take opportunity with Valentines Day to celebrate, remember, and speak of God's Love for us as He gave us in Christ's Gospel.

Happy Valentine's Day

“Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the Lord, which the Lord spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the Lord hath done that which he spake by his servant Elijah.”
‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

‘there shall fall unto the earth NOTHING of the WORD Of THE LORD’

‘the Lord hath DONE that which He SPAKE’

Makes me think of these verses.

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭23:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭27:25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

His Word DEFINES reality.

Hoping and trusting in His Word is not a wishful hope but it is Knowing that it is Truth (Jn.17:17)

“I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭130:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭8:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Waiting on the sunrise is not a matter of wishing that the sun might come up, it’s a matter of KNOWING that it is going to come up because He has Said “while the earth remaineth ... day and night SHALL NOT CEASE”

So waiting on and hoping in His Word is waiting and hoping on/in something that we KNOW.

“These things are written that ye may Know” (Lk.1:3-4, Prov.22:20-21, 1Tim.3:14-15, 1Jn.5:13)

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. (Luke 21:33 KJV)

08/07/2018

In following, is an excerpt of the foreword that I include in all books.

***
In Reckoning of Words

These works are but words of ‘teaching and admonishing’ concerning some ‘things’ that I have seen, and in understanding according to the guidance of the ‘Spirit of Truth’, which is the Holy Spirit or the Comforter, through the Word (John14:26; 16:13; 17:17).

Be it known to take note that I am but a man, and my words are not the ‘Truths’ of the Word (John17:17). And never is it intended that my words should be treated as such. For the ‘right kind of faith’ comes from one place alone, the Word (Rom.10:17). Far be it that any man should believe by my words. Why should his faith be placed in me, instead of Christ where it should be (1Cor.1:17; 2:1, 4-5)? Is it not His word that is ‘like a fire and a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces’, and is it not ‘quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword’ (Jer.23:29, Heb.4:12)? Alas, does it not speak of the Bereans in Acts17:10-11, that how they received the gospel, and yet did not believe in Paul and Silas, but went to the scriptures to determine by faith in the Word. Wherefore, I have indexed each work both as citing the references and the scriptures themselves which are the ‘origination’ of these works of thoughts, that all readers may be as the Bereans. For if by encouragement and admonishing of these works, any man is stimulated to look to the scriptures so that he receives understanding from the Spirit through the Word, which does not return void (Is.55:11), and moves (acts) according to the thing which is understood, then the purpose of these works is fulfilled. May the Lord be glorified.

“Whether, therefore, ye eat, or drink, or whatever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
1Cor.10:31

1Ki 13:17 For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.
1Ki 13:18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.
1Ki 13:19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.
1Ki 13:20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back:
1Ki 13:21 And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee,

Just because someone else gives advice that sounds good “in the Lord’s name”, even if they may mean well in good intent, that doesn’t mean you should follow them. Always go to the Word for yourself and follow what the Lord shows YOU.

Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

And when you give advice, always be careful to give His Word and not your word.

1Co 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: Not With WISDOM OF WORDS, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

1Co 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

1Co 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

And when we give our word instead of His Word, it endangers the faith of others.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

For example, I wouldn’t want people to put their faith in Bertron Hamill. And the result can be as vital as what 1Cor.1:17 describes as “lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect”

The fact is that our words are not the seeds by which men are born again (1Pet.1:23), our words are not sharper than any two edge sword (Heb.4:12), our words are not like a fire (Jer.23:29), and our thought are not His thoughts. (Is.55:8)

Father’s Legacy
~ Bertron J. Hamill

“For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee…”
Deut. 4:32a
~
Often it is, that a man knows not his history
Another son, forsakes his father’s story
Memories of generations lost
And the negligence of a son, is tomorrow’s cost
5 Another generation raised, and he knows not the Lord
Light is the children’s respect
Honour they do neglect
All alas, for they forsake the Word

As Esau’s birthright he sold
10 A father’s wisdom, is never told
All the things not passed on
No Rechabites to go on
Who remembered Jonadab their father
For today it’s a ‘no bother’
15 No gift of inheritance to look to
Not even an heirloom

Praise the Lord! That I’ve been raised
To know the Lord, throughout my days
And my family’s history surrounds me
20 I am reminded of it thoroughly

In Erin of old, Hamill were we
With Irish green under England’s tyranny
“Scarred One” was he, my ancestor
Then Ireland’s immigrants, first one then another
25 For famine’s great fight
‘Twas many caused in flight
Alas! In 1765, came James Hamill
As the Britana’s voyage, carried Robert Hamill
So settled they did, in America
30 As Robert grew, in his length of days
Then at last did he, he migrated to Mississippi
In Winston County
A green place of hills, the hills of Erinim
Irish like, indeed it seemed to him
35 And along was James
As then was born Robert Greer, of the Civil War and fierce
And then Andrew James
A watch he had, full of gears
As which I see today, my eye brings a tear
40 I.D. Hamill, was named Morris Hamill
Who worked at State, strict to the plate
Life of simplicity, lived Bertron Lee
The Seabee of New Guinea
I remember his kindness
45 In spite of my young blindness
Then came alas, that Barry Hamill
Inclined did move back to the hill
For so it was to him
Fair in Erinim
50 How much I praise the Lord
That he prepared his heart to seek the Lord
He left those stray words he heard
That he might seek in the Word
By grace he was seeking
55 The Holy Spirit gave him understanding
The World may count him low
But in the Word, he did grow
Now I am here
Knowing the Lord’s love, I am in tears

60 In Erinim I live
On the land of inheritance, which my grandmother did give
There is not a place that I walk, that has not been touched by family history
I only lack, just their story
On Hamill hill
65 I visit the old spring still
Where Old Robert dwelt
The grounds, I have touched and felt
And now enshrined for tourists
All the more and curious
70 On which road back, is Pleasant Hill Church
With oak and birch
By which I sigh
Each time I pass by
For there in the old cemetery
75 My ancestors are buried
Generations of four
Robert through Andrew, could one ask more
All but Morris and Bertron
Though once they dwelt, they had moved on
80 Whose houses were next door
Which I have seen standing, with every old board
But such as is now
All is torn down
For such was the way
85 The number of their days
For the Lord directs a man’s steps
Though he plans his way
Still is the old watch, on the piano’s mantle
Not yet it ticks, beside the still candle
90 I hold it in the light’s gloom
And behold our heirloom

Bertron James is me
After my grandfather, my legacy
Irish am I
95 Though my blood mix is high
For a Hamill am I
I am an heir of the Scarred One
I bear his name, his name which he won
Ancestors I have of many kind
100 But of the inheritance of name, I have only one line
Just as I am a child of God
I am an heir of the kingdom of God
I am a Hamill by blood
Which to change, nothing could
105 An inheritance unearned
Which one might yearn
For how can a promise be earned?
How can a gift be bought?
Such as our blessing, when our inheritance is given
110 As kings and priests before our Lord are living
As much as I wait for my inheritance of this place in yearning
How much more do I wait, and walk in love of our Lord’s appearing
As great as it be
Such is my Father’s legacy
~

Index of lines:

5 – Jud.2:10 “… and there arose another generation after them, who knew not the Lord,”
7 – Ex. 20:12 “Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”
8 – Ps.119:9 & Deut. 4:9 – “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.” and “Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but teach them to thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;”
9 – Gen.25:27-34 – Esau sells his birthright
10 – Prov.13:1 “A Wise son heareth his father’s instruction, but a scoffer heareth not rebuke.”
11 – 2Tim.2:2 “And the things that thou hast heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
12-13 – Jer.35 and read also 2Ki. 10:13-16 – Here many years and generations were passed since the days of Jonadab the son of Rechab and his descendants, the Rechabites, still honored his commands, and the Lord blessed them for it.
17-18 – Jud.2:10 – repeated
19-20 – Deut.4:9 – repeated, and 2Pet.1:12 “Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.”
28 – The HMS Britana was the ship that James Hamill migrated on, and on that voyage was his son, Robert, born.
29 – For clarification, this line rhymes in the manner as how the Irish pronounce America, for in this manner, America is pronounced in that the final “a” is long, so that America rhymes with days.
33-34 – “Irish like” is the translation of the name ‘Erinim’, by my own calling
36 – Robert Greer Hamill served in the Civil War under General Barksdale. He was the last Hamill to live on the land of Hamill Hill, which later his daughter and son-in-law did run a sawmill until they sold it to Mississippi State University.
40 – Morris Hamill was a security guard at Mississippi State University, he was nick named ‘I.D. Hamill’ because he would always take the student’s I.D.’s as he would give them tickets to ensure that they would come to be addressed on the ticket.
42-45 – Bertron Lee Hamill was my grandfather, we, the grand kids, always called him ‘Daddy Bert’. He always lived a simple life and sought and served the Lord. In World War II, he was a U.S. Navy Seabee, stationed on New Guinea, and he saw a ‘touch’ of action. With people he had all of the patience in the world, sometimes, maybe too much.
52 – 1Tim. 4:7 “But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.” and 2Tim. 2:16 “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”
53 – 2Tim. 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
54-55 – Jn.14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” and Ps.119:34 “Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.”
56 – 1Pet.4:4 “Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:” and 1Jn.2:15-16 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
57 – 1Pet.2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
61 – Our land on which we now live, The Hamill Hilltop Ranch, was given to us by my grandmother Sarah Clytee Cook Hamill, from her mother, Ally Hames Cook, given to her from her father, Jefferson Davis Hames who bought it from the original settler, James M. Brown whose father was a Revolutionary War hero.
65 – Hamill Spring
68-69 – People from as far as two hours come to haul water from the spring, and all of them have somewhat of curiosity of its history.
78 – Morris Franklin Hamill is buried in Sturgis town, and Bertron Lee Hamill (Daddy Bert) is buried in Vicksburg.
79 – Morris once dwelt in the old house with Andrew next to the Pleasant Hill Church, there was Bertron Lee born.
83-84 – Today, some young boys who presently own that house sight, have turned it into a hunting club and have torn down the old houses, but save one near the road.
86-87 – Prov.16:9 “A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
101 – Jn.1:12-13 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
102 – Matt. 25:34 “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” and 1Pet.1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,”
103-104 – Jn.1:12-13 – again, and Rom.8:38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
105, 107 – Gal.3:18 “For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.”
110 – Rev.5:9-10 “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
112 – 2Tim.4:8 “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” and 1Cor.15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” and 2Pet.3:10-11, 14 “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, … Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.”

She Is Blessed
“…a virtuous woman…her children rise up, and call her blessed
… her own works praise her in the gates.” ~ Prov.31:10, 28, 31
~
I am her second born
I am also her second son
My mom raised me in word of the Lord
To ask for another mom, I would ask none
When I was at fault
In kindness, to Word of truth she brought
When I was sick
She was with me in times both thin and thick
No matter of what kind of weather
She cared for me for the better
As she fervently serves the Lord
I see her with the Word
As I see her serving the one above
The Word calls it, “labor of love” (1Thess.1:3)

A Miniseries
“Kiss The Son”
Ps.2:12 “Kiss the Son …”

Man
~ Bertron J. Hamill
“… and man became a living soul.”
Gen.2:7
~
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
Later, he created man from the dirt
Made in God’s image
A soul that was living
Unto whom a commandment was given
A fruit, not to be eaten
In which commandment, he said a promise
In the day, when eaten
Life, he would lose it
But when he ate, his eyes opened
Because of that fruit of knowing

But did he die?
Or did God lie?
At ‘Nine hundred and thirty’ did Adam die
That is to say, physically
But is there any other kind of death, really?
Here is the question
That by Adam, “…death passed upon all men…”?
Do “all men” die physically?
But accordingly, believers will be resurrected, flying
So, what is “all men”?
But that we, believers, Were DEAD IN SINS
So, death came to that soul that was living
Alas! The damage
That Adam’s son and generations are begotten,
Not in God’s, but in Adam’s image
Thus, became the nature of man in whole
Death to Adam’s living soul
Just in one simple way
It happened, that day
~

Sin
~ Bertron J. Hamill
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,”
Rom.3:23
~
Adam disobeyed and sinned
And by sin, man and God are far separated from end to end
And sin is upon all men
By which they fall short
And deaths there are more
Because of sin, another death
An eternal fiery death

Can a man that is dead in sin, do anything?
In the grave, there is no work, nor device, nor anything
‘For we are saved by grace
Through faith’
‘Not by works, lest we should boast’
How simple is this?
Grace is not of works
And works is not of grace
For our works is our own righteousness
Our own is like filth
And away our iniquities have taken us
~

The Son
~ Bertron J. Hamill
“And I saw, and bore witness that this is the Son of God”
Jn.1:34
~
The Son, God hath called God
The Son, the king: “Therefore God, thy God”
He was from the beginning
He had the Father’s glory
He is the Word made flesh
And Jesus, is the Son, in context
Even in the book of John
Which was written, that we might believe that he is the Son
What is Christ? What does it mean?
Today, men claim to be wise
“Oh, it’s his last name”, said they
But as in Acts it mentions Christ
It quotes a passage in Psalm 2, that calls it otherwise
‘The Anointed’
What is Messiah? What do men say?
But the Hebrew word of Messiah, is also the same word, for ‘the anointed’
The Son was given
He died, was buried, and is risen
Our trespasses were nailed to the cross, and forgiven
For our sins, He is the propitiation
He is the way, none can come to the Father, but through Him
~

Promises of Faith In Christ
~ Bertron J. Hamill
“…he is faithful that promised…”
Heb.10:23
~
So much in Christ by faith
So much did he promise
That eternal life, and passed from death
We have God’s righteousness
Sealed with the Holy Spirit, are those who believed
Believe, and are saved
On his name, we have faith, and are born again
Born of God, and not of the will of men

Alas, to believe that Christ raised again
Is a prayer required? Or simply is the heart convinced?
“For with heart man believes unto righteousness”
~

"Kiss the Son" is a mini series of four poems that cover the gospel. It is indexed with scriptures for both convenience and clarification for the reader, for faith comes by the Word (Rom.10:17) not my words. The title is based on Psalm 2.

In observation, Psalm 2 is the gospel, and to believe on Jesus that He is the Christ (Jn.20:31) means to believe that He is the Lord's "anointed" and the Son in Psalm2.

Ps.2:12 = Jn.3:16
