For her wedding day, a bride wanted to honor someone who couldn't be there.
This wasn't just any guitar. It was her daddy's guitar, complete with his name scratched into the wood.
Using flowers provided by the family, I had the privilege of creating a tribute that allowed something so personal to become part of her wedding day.
Some things are simply too meaningful to be replaced. And sometimes, flowers help us tell the stories our hearts never forget.

Growing up, I remember going to the funeral home for a visitation and seeing flowers
everywhere.
Standing sprays lined the walls. Baskets and arrangements filled the tables. There were flowers
from family, friends, neighbors, churches, coworkers and local businesses.
Sometimes it seemed like there wasn't an empty spot left in the room.
But what I remember most wasn't really the flowers. It was what they represented.
Every arrangement meant someone had stopped what they were doing and said, in their own
way:
“We're thinking about you.”
“We're hurting with you.”
“Your loved one mattered.”
“You're not alone.”
Today, I sometimes walk into a visitation and see only two or three floral arrangements, and I've
found myself wondering:
When did we stop sending flowers?
Times have changed. Funeral traditions have changed. And there are many beautiful and
meaningful ways to honor someone's life.
But I hope we never forget why generations before us sent flowers.
They weren't simply decorations for the funeral home. They
were visible expressions of love in a
room filled with grief.
At Chattooga Florist, we think that's a tradition worth remembering.
Honoring every life with beauty, compassion, and care.

"Do you remember when funeral homes were filled with flowers? I'd love to hear your memories in the comments."
