Many of you have reached out to us on social media or stopped by while we’ve been serving at local events asking the same question: “Why aren’t you on the Sunset Beach strand yet?” So we wanted to post an update!
Unfortunately, despite the overwhelming support shown through emails, calls, and comments from many residents, visitors, and local supporters, the Sunset Beach Town Council voted against the proposal to allow beach carts on the strand this summer.
While we’re disappointed with the outcome, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to make their voices heard. Your support showed just how many people believed this change would have been a great addition for beachgoers, families, and our local community.
It’s disappointing to see a proposal ultimately fail without opportunity to revise or discuss concerns the council had, especially since none of them were brought to our attention before the voting. It seems the concerns of a small number of businesses on the island outweighed the voices of so many supporters we had.
We do encourage you to respectfully contact the Sunset Beach Town Council and let them know how you feel. Your voice matters, and constructive feedback helps elected officials understand what their community wants.
As for now, We’ll continue serving you at our shop, local events, and everywhere else we can—and we hope to have another opportunity to bring Sunset Slush to the strand in the future.
Thank you for your continued support. It truly means the world to us. 💙💛
