Carrie and I will discuss what it takes to be a good guide, bad guide or just the guide who wants to take your money in Iceland, Belize, Canada, USA and other parts of the world. We will give recommendations for guides that have proven themselves to be the best at what they do as well as precautions for the guides and outfitters that appear to be just after your money.

Another great fly that consistently produces coho and steelhead. I enjoyed tying this fly a couple years ago on a conventional hook and now with a tube fly.

Absolute blast and an experience of a lifetime! We both have a renewed appreciation for the craftsmanship and quality of a handmade bamboo fly rod. We highly recommend Montana Rodmaker’s Guild to anyone who is wanting to learn to build their own bamboo fly rods.

We took our vacation to Montana and Carrie I spent 40 hours building our first bamboo fly rods. Instead of sleeping in and fishing we worked all week splitting cane, planing, sanding and tying our guides together while gluing reel seats. We learned from the best….two guys who spent their careers building bamboo fly rods for Tom Morgan Rodsmiths (TMR). We now own two amazing bamboo fly rods! What a great team building/spouse activity.

Practicing her double haul for bonefish in Belize and then goes out and catches her personal best smallmouth! A beautiful 16 inch 2 lb bronzeback. That’s how we do it at the lodge.

I got lucky tonight with my very own Dave’s Mercedes streamer from the Dave’s stripper series of flies. I was stripping slow and this big bronzeback came up and smashed it. Just an inch shy of a trophy but it’s a trophy in my book.

There is nothing quite like enjoying the latest issue of “The Drake Magazine” on the serene deck of the lodge. I can’t wait to get on the water this evening!
