Love is a matchstick that glows bright in the darkness of night.
In heavy moments it feels important to remind ourselves of what truly matters.
Community over convenience.
Care over indifference.
Leading with love, in our work, in our choices, and through how we show up for one another.
Neighbors helping neighbors. Artists supporting artists. People loving people.
Choosing to care, especially when it’s hard and when it’s scary. 💛
/////// Artwork based on a public-domain vintage tattoo illustration, honoring the anonymous artists of the past, with additional writings by myself. I was drawn to this imagery because of its long history of being replicated, adapted, and reimagined as artists added their own meaning, symbolism, and flair over time.
As all art is shaped by imagination, other artists, and the natural world, it felt fitting to use such visual iconography to illustrate my words. A rose with thorns. A heart anchored down. Luck by way of clovers and thistles. Green abundance and red piercing through.
A juxtaposition of luck and love, and what weighs them down or makes them bleed. A double-edged sword, love is. As is time, and progress, and the world we wake up in. Duality in all things, for without lack, we cannot truly know gain.
