Process: materialgirl: this piece was completed in one sitting, modeled after a photograph of the artist. “I think this piece is just a feeling of discontentment. We are all over-saturated, and yet nothing ever is really enough. As humans, we make that bed, and now we have to lie in it. Might as well be proud.”

Process: Blue-eyed Girl: acrylic on canvas. This piece was a take on realism for the artist who wanted to portray a warped sense of traditional american beauty. The process of this piece was a challenging one for the artist, as it was a break from traditional portraiture. In order to determine the color pallete and layout of the piece, the aritst created a color map of the portrait using colored pencils and then translatted this map onto the canvas in paint. The colors are meant to add mirage to the idealistic american standard of beauty to represent the artist's viewpoint as one who doesnt fit this standard. Original 16x20. Order at the link in bio.
