On Friday, June 5 from 12–2 PM, we’re thrilled to welcome Pat Reteguiz to the store for a live FREE Lino Cut Block Printing Demo. Pat is a talented printmaker and Speedball Product Development Specialist from the NYC area, and she’ll be sharing techniques, tips, and inspiration throughout the afternoon. The Art Store sponsored the murals for Jagged Little Pill The Musical, which starts June 5th! It has been a while since we've talked about brush shapes...
A Flat brush is one of the most versatile paintbrush shapes. There are many variations in size and brand, but the core shape is the same: a rectangular ferrule with straight or slightly rounded edges. A Flat brush is best used for: Sharp edges and clean lines, blocking in shapes/large areas, controlled strokes with varied width, blending and soft transitions, creating crisp geometric forms, dry brushing/texture effects, Impasto and directional work... But remember that you're the artist: At the end of the day, every artist develops their own relationship with their tools, and there’s no single “correct” way to use a brush!
