It's the most wonderful time of the year. That's right: Stationery Store Day is almost here! August 1st is dedicated to celebrating independent stationery stores and the people who make them tick. FYI, that's you and me. It's our day!

We'll be celebrating with a storewide sale (10% off everything!) and our famous mystery stationery grab bags, plus lots of exclusive official Stationery Store Day merch. The merch this year is the cutest yet (everybody say "thank you .schipper!") and we've ordered more of it than ever before. Finally, our neighbors at have concocted some delightful beverages for the occasion, so be sure to stop in and grab a sip.

For our far-off friends, the sale will be on our website as well, and we're always happy to ship! Make sure to visit to find your local stationery store, and pay them a visit, too!

The fine print: 10% discount will be automatically applied at checkout at our brick and mortar store from 11am to 5pm on Saturday, August 1st, and on our website from 8am on Saturday til midnight on Sunday, August 2nd. Grab bags and official merch will be available in-store only.

In case no one’s told you today: you should write about this in your journal.

This hill, this morning walk, the talk you just had over coffee, the seagull eating garbage, the bright orange cranes at the port, those condos you still think of as new, the blueberry bush you bought at the farmer’s market, the spot in your yard you think it will get enough sun. Whether the mountain is out, whether the doctor will be able to tell you what’s wrong, whether that kid will ever learn long division, that compliment from a stranger, what that man said and whether or not it’s the last straw. The fear, the ache, the joy. How good the air smells in the morning, how hot the shower, how icy the sound. The kind gesture you offered, and received. Your life, the first of its kind. Every bit, worthy of a page.

Have you met Marilyn yet? She’s our newest old friend who sits here in the window. She’s kinda loud but we love her. She’s hoping you’ll sit and share a few words with her.

We’re closed today, because a snow day in Tacoma is rare and magical. And my kids are rare and magical. The stationery will still be there later. ❤️

Neighbors in the block are open, so make sure to stop in , , and if you’re adventuring out and about today.

Dear friends, we will be closed for business on Friday, January 30th in solidarity with the general strike. We demand an end to the inhumane and illegal actions of 🧊 and this administration in Minnesota and all over the country.

The shop may be closed, but you will find the space open and our big table available to you from 11 to 3. Leave your money at home (unless you need something yummy from here on the block or .a.latte.espresso just up the hill!) and stop in to journal and visit for a while. You’re welcome here. (Unless you work for you know who.)

Do yourself a favor and come on down to South 11th today. We’re open til 5 for all your last minute shopping needs, and so are our neighbors and . Between the three of us, you can probably skip that trip to the mall. Believe me, it’s a lot more peaceful over here.

Note: today, December 23rd, is your very last chance to shop at Lauda before Christmas. You’ll find us open again on Saturday, the 27th. ❤️

We will be closed this week on Thursday (Thanksgiving day) and Friday.

When Saturday morning rolls around though, you know where to find us. We’ll be open at 10 and ready for the crowds (fingers crossed there will be crowds)! It’ll be the perfect day to check out our little shop and all of our cute neighbors: , , , , and our newest friend on the block, . We just have a feeling you’ll want to make South 11th your new tradition.
