Karpen of California was a branch of the Chicago-based furniture manufacturer S. Karpen & Bros, founded in 1880 by Solomon Karpen and his eight brothers.

This desk could be as old as 1932 or as new as 1951 (years of operation in California).

"Karpen Bros. specialized in producing high-quality, handcrafted furniture pieces that were known for their durability and timeless design.

Karpen of California became one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the United States by the early 1900s, and they continued to produce furniture throughout the 20th century. Their furniture was popular among interior designers and architects, and many pieces were used in hotels, restaurants, and other commercial spaces.

While Karpen of California is no longer in operation, their furniture pieces are still highly valued and sought after by collectors and furniture enthusiasts.
