Dear Friends and Families,
It is with heavy hearts that we share a
difficult message with our community.
Esposito Garden Center has been made aware of
the recent arrest of the individual who portrayed Santa Claus at our holiday
events. We understand how upsetting and concerning this news may be, particularly
for the many families who have made visiting Santa at Esposito's a cherished
holiday tradition.
We have communicated directly with the Wakulla
County Sheriff's Office through their Public Information Officer, Captain
Surace, who has confirmed that the 16 charges in this ongoing investigation are
related to images on digital devices. We have also confirmed that WCSO has not
received allegations of inappropriate behavior involving children or families
at any of the events he attended.
While these allegations are deeply disturbing,
we believe it is important to share the facts we have verified with law
enforcement and reassure the families who have trusted us with their holiday
traditions.
We also want to reassure our guests about how
our Santa visits have always been conducted. Santa has been located in an open,
public area of our garden center, with employees nearby and parents
accompanying their children and taking their own photographs. To the best of
our knowledge, there was no opportunity for him to independently photograph or
retain images of the children and families visiting our store.
For many years, welcoming Santa has been one
of our favorite holiday traditions. We have treasured watching generations of
families create special Christmas memories here at Esposito's.
After thoughtful consideration, we have
made the decision not to replace Santa this holiday season. While we know
this will be disappointing to many, we feel it is the most appropriate and
respectful decision under the circumstances.
The magic and beauty of Christmas will still
be very much alive at Esposito's. Our beloved big Santa chair will remain,
along with many other beautiful holiday settings where families can gather,
take photographs, and create wonderful memories together.
We are truly grateful for the trust you have
placed in us over the years. Your families are part of the Esposito family, and
providing a welcoming, safe, and joyful environment has always been, and will
continue to be, one of our highest priorities.
Thank you for your understanding, your
kindness, and your continued support during this difficult time.
With heartfelt appreciation,
The Esposito Garden Center Team
