Owning this little shop has been one of the brightest dreams I’ve ever chased. I had grand plans of filling Velvet Honey with the coolest, kitschiest Christmas ornaments and décor this season—but the truth is, I just haven’t had the money to make it happen. I’ve reduced our hours so I can work two other jobs just to cover basic living expenses and rent for the shop. Most weeks I’m working around 70 hours, and still barely scraping by.

Even so, every moment spent here—sharing my favorite finds from other small makers, meeting all of you, hearing your stories—has meant the world to me. Every person who has shopped, visited, or offered a kind word has helped keep this little dream alive.

It’s really hard to admit when something you love is struggling. If I could, I’d keep wearing rose-colored glasses and stock a whole shelf of them for you too. For now, I’m giving this place every ounce I have, while also looking for other options to stay afloat.

Thank you for the love, the support, and the magic you’ve shared with Velvet Honey. It truly means everything.

P.S. doesn’t help that our shop girl is about to walk out. Lol
