French Doré Bronze Candlesticks with Crystal Prisms

Late 19th century French craftsmanship takes a dramatic turn in this striking pair of doré bronze candlesticks. Grape and vine motifs climb each sculptural stem, while eleven crystal prisms on each candlestick catch and scatter the candlelight.

The pair retains its original bobeches and much of the historic gilding. Their rich, untouched patina gives the bronze remarkable depth and preserves the character acquired over more than a century.

The Tea Tree, Painted in Delft

Long before blue and white became an interior design signature, it recorded a centuries old exchange of ideas between Europe and Asia.

Dating from approximately 1725 to 1750, this Dutch Delftware charger features the iconic Tea Tree pattern. A stylized flowering tree rises from a fenced garden, surrounded by scrolling foliage and a richly hand-painted border in layered shades of blue. The scalloped rim gives the composition a wonderful sense of movement.

A monogram on the reverse corresponds with marks associated with De Klaauw, one of Delft’s prominent historic pottery factories. Nearly three centuries later, the charger retains the character, craftsmanship, and subtle irregularities that make early Delftware so compelling.
