Since the bookstore is not currently open, we need to share this news here on our page. It is with a heavy heart that we let you know that one of the original owners, Ellen Brown, passed away at her home in Chevy Chase MD on April 7th. Ellen was a firecracker of a person, very active in the Tampa and Jewish Communities, the creative arts and in her support for local downtown businesses. She will be missed. I am sharing her obituary here. If anyone would like to send a card to the family I am also listing David's address: Please feel free to share any pictures or memories of Ellen and I will send them on to David.

As many of you know we have been dealing with some maintenance issues with the building. In order to fix these issues unfortunately we will need to move the books out of the store. While this was not the news we hoped for, there is a silver lining to this. We’re having a Pop-Up Sidewalk Sale! Since we cannot allow customers inside the store we are bringing the books out to you. This Saturday (as long as the weather cooperates), we will be holding a sidewalk sale out in front of the store. Here is how it will work:

• Open at 10am (no sooner than that). Closing time not sure.
• Tables set up outside with books ranging from $1-5 dollars (all new inventory from storage)
• Try to bring cash and your own bags if you can
• Keep track of what you are buying so we can check you out quickly
• At the end of the day any books left will even more discounted
We will continue having little pop up sales each Saturday till the end of February (weather permitting)

We haven’t made any decisions yet about anything else but as soon as we do you will be the first to know. Thank you all for your support, patience and love of books and the bookstore.

REMEMBER THIS IS ALL IF THE WEATHER COOPERATES.

Hello book friends. Due to a maintenance issue with the building, the bookstore will be closed until further notice. We have contacted and will be working with the property manager to address the issue and hope to be open soon but right now there is no timeline. We apologize for any inconvenience this already has or will cause to our customers and appreciate your support. We will update you once we know more information.

This year has been a challenging one for the bookstore as many of you reading this know. When we have said it's too hard, lets’ just close the shop, what else can go wrong, you have walked in the store and said, "I am so glad you are open, please don’t ever close, I love this bookstore." You have been there through the good and the bad and supported us all the way, because you are our book family.

So we would like to say THANK YOU to our book friends old and new who share their love of books with us. THANK YOU to the young college students who frequent our store and are happy to tell their friends about us. THANK YOU to the FLORIDA THESPIANS who absolutely, positively without a doubt, Love, Love, Love us. THANK YOU to every group that comes in for a conference, or is on a layover and spends their free time in our bookstore. THANK YOU to all those who support our events from open mics, to author readings, book clubs, book sales and workshops. THANK YOU to our customers that give us free advertising by sharing pics of the store on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. THANK YOU to our downtown neighbors who are always there to help us out especially Dough Nation Spain Restaurant & Toma Bar Samaria Cafe and many others. Finally a big THANK YOU to David and Ellen Brown who opened this store over 22 years ago in an ever changing Downtown Tampa and made it a success.

But most important of all we are THANKFUL to all of you who are reading this. We love you and could not have survived this year without you (literally). We are also thankful that books still exist and people still love them, collect them and cherish them. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
